I wouldn't want to be the two elven lords head in the morning.

Love it.

Hahahaha! So funny! I also love Celeborn pretending not to be amused 😂! I bet you would like a story called The Conversation on this site which is also about Thranduil and Elrond getting drunk.

Too funny! That was an insightful scene, where Celeborn takes it upon himself to tell both Thranduil & Elrond to behave themselves; after all they *are* both younger, an interesting thought! And it is a novelty to see Thranduil on the receiving end of an order for once -- and obeying without question! Haha, very nice!

Author Reply: As Elrond's father in law, and (possibly) distant kin of Thranduil, I think Celeborn is well within his rights to expect respectful behaviour from the elder Elves!

I remember I loved this the first time I read it - I must say it aged well with time. Like the wine Thranduil and Elrond consumed. Only those two could manage to come across as charming when drunk. *fan shakes head in bemusement*.

The little cameo by Celeborn was well done. The father figure in him really comes across here - well, the "I-am-a-lot-older-than-you-so-obey-me" part of him at least. The last bit when he hums the tune reminded me that even though he is an old and powerful lord there is a little elfling in him somewhere.

But for me, the best line in the whole short was the first: "The two elder Elves, who were often falsely accused of despising each other ...".

I guess you have read a lot of Elrond-hates-Thranduil-and-vice-versa fics as well? I am so glad that you redress the balance.

Author Reply: There is no real evidence that they hated each other, and a difference of opinion does not necessarily imply hatred, either. They are both charming, drunk or sober:)

Enjoyed the story, especially the idea of Legolas forgetting the words. Nice to see a Thranduil that is not cruel. Nice touch with Celeborn trying to get the twins and Legolas to wager with him!

Author Reply: Thranduil is not written as cruel because I do not believe he is, and Celeborn should be allowed to have a bit of fun!

What a lot of happy drunks these elves are! Actually, I was impressed by Elrond's and Thranduil's ability to stop their quarrel once they had settled it in the cellar.

Author Reply: Yes, they can actually behave in a mature fashion when required to.
