Beautiful, beautiful, magnificent!!!! And in my opinion a much more...hopeful look at Oct. 6 than is usually given in these fics. I like it that you didn't pile up the guilt and feelings of wretchedness on Frodo's part, and that you kept something of an air of cheerfulness and didn't make it too dark to bear reading. This is just what I wanted to read today, this being the anniversary. Thanks so much! I would recommend this to any Frodo-lover! Namarie, and God bless!

Gotta comment on this one...

The first chapter of this story was the first thing of yours I ever read and I adored it. You had everything I wanted to see in a story, despite the change from canon. I was actually sad to see you write a second chapter, figuring you could never top the first - but I was so pleasantly surprised that I have followed your work ever since. Thank you so much for this lovely story.

I read this story some time ago, but I don't think that I ever left a review. This story has so many adjectives that can describe it: gentle, melancholy, comforting, wistful, resigned, peaceful...

A lovely story. It really does seem to bridge that gap in Frodo's narrative and brings us to the point of his decision to sail West.

Author Reply: Hi, Gentle Hobbit. Thank you for coming over to this excellent new site and reviewing. I appreciate your kind words. You know, I would apply exactly the same words to your story that I love so much. (Maybe not 'peaceful,' but certainly 'gentle, melancholy, comforting' and 'wistful.') Thank you.

Oh Gawd, I'm bawling like a baby! This story was so good! Makes you understand so completely why Frodo had to go to the Grey Havens. Even makes you a little glad for him that at last his pain would be healed. Loved it sooooo much! :) I'm off to finish bawling now!

Author Reply: Hi Firnsarnien! It's good to see you here. Isn't this a wonderful site? Thank you for letting me know how much you liked "October Quickenings." All of us, at some point, have to tackle why Frodo left for the Havens and I just had this image of him sitting in the sun, wrapped in a quilt, that would not leave me alone. The whole story grew out of that one image.
