Yeah, Merry is probably one of the least popular, unappreciated characters. But he's still my favourite anyway.

Author Reply: Merry does tend to get a bit overlooked in fan fiction, doesn't he? But not by me. :)

This was a really sad one. All of those thoughts fit w Merry...but I never really imagined him thinking such things.

It's okay, Merry, you'll get it right when it counts!

Author Reply: There's so much more to all the hobbits than the Big Folk probably suspect, and I greatly enjoy writing about them. Thank you so much.

Oh yes, the Ring is definitely at work here...

That’s sooooo much Pippin, always looking for the good ..

“I don’t feel like a child anymore.”

This makes me weep, Janet. What a line at the end of this wonderful chapter.
Thank you!

Author Reply: Thank you, dear one. Our Pippin went through such a transformation, didn't he? And yet always... remained Pippin. :)

I love your Aragorn here, worried yet strong. But there’s still hope …

“but as long as I can see you in my heart I will not lose hope.”

*sigh*

Author Reply: Aragorn was very uncertain at many times during the Quest... but his determination, love, and courage saw him through.

Oh, dearie. What an entrance … I can SEE Frodo so clearly, pale and beautiful, frowing…
I can FEEL his worries, his fear. …

“It isn’t Boromir I fear, though. It’s the Ring.”

I can hear him whispering

Author Reply: Thank you, Julchen! This was one of my very first stories, and I trie veyr hard to get into the minds and and hearts of each member of the Fellowship on this fateful day.

I've just discovered your stories and they are wonderful...Had to leave a comment about Legolas' thoughts upon leaving Lorien. You write so well from the character's POV, and I love that he is starting to recognize the worth of a friendship with Gimli - that it is strengthening him, as well as the entire Fellowship. *sniff*...and his thoughts on never realizing the plus side of being one of the Secondborn, and how it will be a long, long time before the wound of losing Mithrandir even begins to heal. Wonderful, sad words! I look forward to discovering more of your work...thank you!

Author Reply: Thank you so much! What a lovely review.

If reading about Legolas and his growth and new perceptions as a member of the Fellowship interests you, please check out "Avalanche". As the story progresses, Legolas learns as much about himself as about his companions. Another story you might enjoy is "Unlikely Comfort".

What a sweet hobbit Merry is! All your hobbits are! Lovely little essays; I agree that their minds were quite occupied the morning they left, with Mordor looming in the distance. On to the next story...

Author Reply: Thanks, Pippinfan! I'm happy to know that folks are still enjoying these.
