Garden Plot  by ShireDweller 4 Review(s)
Queen GaladrielReviewed Chapter: 1 on 9/13/2005
Oh, you have me grinning from ear to ear! So often post-quest stories are all angst, but I'm a firm believer in some humor now and then, and sometimes a good story that's full of it like this one just cheers the heart! Thank you, Shire dweller! No more time...must go read the sequel! Namarie!
God bless,
Galadriel

This is one of my favorite stories, and I have read it more times than I can remember. I apologize for this late "thank you." The tenderness of this story, of Rosie and Sam towards Frodo, never fails to warm my heart and bring a smile to my face (and often a tear to my eye). All of the hobbits are so perfectly in character, and this story is so wonderfully thought out and written, that I keep coming back to it. This story is a treasure.

I love the tenderness of this scene. You've caught that lovely subtlety to the relationship between Sam and Frodo . . . part friend, part servant. And it is good to see Frodo find some comfort and healing.

You have captured the voices of Sam and Rosie wonderfully - not everyone does Sam well (I think he is toughest of all the hobbits, perhaps the servant thing makes him tough?). I like the idea of healing by gardening (since I garden myself) and it seems very hobbity - the earth and growing things and food is the way to a hobbit's heart. Very nicely done.

Author Reply: Thank you! It's wonderful to hear we got their voices right--we worked hard at them--and that gardening as healing makes sense. I thought of Frodo while digging up my own little backyard plot, and the story grew from there.
