This was very nice. I love how you showed how Merry wants to protect Pippin, for him to stay the same, etc. Perfectly in character, in my opinion. Though I did find it strange that Eowyn and Merry were so formal with each other...I didn't really feel the bond that they seemed to share in the movie: both had never seen war, both had no idea what to expect, and both had fierce determination to fight for the ones they loved. Somehow I didn't feel that same connection. I did like how they were a source of comfort for each other in your story, though. ^^ I do hope that I don't sound overly critical--this was an enjoyable read. :)
