Poor Merry! At least he won't remember... And the bad guy is free once again. *shakes head*

Interesting little foray here... :-) Thanks for writing!

Author Reply: Thank you! This was a fun detour for me (and them!).

Wow!

I've never seen Lost, but this was a truly fascinating and unique read. Yes, I'm just going to wink broadly at a plane in Middle-earth (heheheheheheh, now I want to know how the flight was going *before* they crashed...considering that the Hobbits hate heights...). I love that you were able to almost completely uproot these familiar people and set them down in a totally new setting and yet keep them in character, and there weren't terribly great changes in their relationships. Love also that Boromir had the chance to redeem himself in this story...poor Boromir. And I love Pippin's artwork, LOL! Too bad Saruman got away. But can we assume that out of this comes the quest not very different from the one we know well? Except that Boromir might survive? And if there are airplanes...what other machines will Saruman turn to his purposes?

This really does make one want a sequel, you know. :D

Excellently done, congrats!

Author Reply: Oh my, thank you very much! This is truly one of the most unique stories I ever wrote. It was a challenge to base it on a TV show in progress, keep it as canon as possible, and yet still make it suspenseful. I'm very happy you liked it. *hugs you*

I can't believe I hadn't read this one before. Talk about a good story!

Thanks for taking the time to write and post this.

Author Reply: Thank you! This was a most unusual -- and fun -- story to write. I wish future seasons of "Lost" had inspired me as much as the first one, though.

Dear Shirebound,

I remembered seeing this maybe a year ago, but since I hadn't seen "Lost" back then I skipped it and instead read your other stories(You're one of my absolute favorite authors here, by the way!). But recently my family and I have been renting the DVDs of Season 1; they;re so addicting! Then I remembered that you'd written a mix of LotR and Lost, so I've been reading it with great enjoyment! I tend to be quite a Frodo angst fan, and you didn't dissapoint there. ;) I like how Aragorn said to Boromir, "Be at peace, son of Gondor" just in calm conversation, ominously forshadowing his death scene. :D And I loved Gimli playing chess with Pippin and how he was a bit like John Lock; his hunting the boar, and then Boramir's thoughts that the spear "could have skewered a wild boar" was pure genieus. :D Bravo! 'Course, Merry's being like Charlie was always interesting, and I kept almost laughing at Aragorn's simmalarities to Jack. ;D You did a great job of keeping both stories' ellements present and working it into a compelling plot. You're an inspiration to me, and I hope you don't stop writing great fanfics! :)

In the Lion's paws,
~Hobbitgirl~

Author Reply: Thank you, Hobbitgirl! "The Island" was such fun to write; it was a real challenge weaving together LOTR, "Lost", and my own storyline.

I have *no* intention to stop writing fanfics. I love LOTR more than ever, and just keep finding myself needing to write down new ideas. I truly appreciate you taking the time to let me know you're enjoying my stories. I love writing and sharing them.

Wunnerful, wunnerful! I just love this story! You do everything so well! I love it! But, I thought elves couldn't grow beards, or maybe all of the elves except Cirdan shave? It's another mystery! Again I want to say how much I enjoyed your story and I look forward to next week wednsday so that I can see the 2 hr. season finale and know that you are also watching it. I look forward to anymore stories that you may and hopefully will write, as I will be amonng the first to R and R. Until the next time, May the stars Smile on you and the wind always be at your back! Galidea ;D

Author Reply: It's a good question about the beards! (In ROTK, Cirdan is described as bearded.) Thank you for your lovely reviews, may the finale of "Lost" be mind-bending, and new stories are just around the corner!

This was great, but...I was hoping it'd be much longer & more involved. Any chance for a sequel? I loved this one.

Author Reply: I'm glad you enjoyed it. I don't tend to write extremely long stories, but if the sequel-muse ever bites, I'll certainly pursue it!
