I found it! Thanks for advising me on the origins of the dragonfly.

Author Reply: You are so welcome! I love seeing how different people have marked their works over the years! And thank you for letting me know you're continuing to enjoy what I've written.

This tale is lovely. For one, it's fun to look at the Fellowship from an outside perspective, and also because you make me fall in love with your OCs. Fleshing out your characters the way you have is wonderful, and the research into and way your characters have expressed their love of stone carving has led me to appreciate the craft whereas before I have not thought much of it. Also you should know, this story was recommended to me and is the first I read on this site, so thanks for being so good that you convinced me to stay!

Author Reply: I am honored someone recommended this story to you. I have sworn that Ruvemir crawled out of the space where a drawer is missing in the pedestal of my water bed, and after introducing himself to me began telling me his story. That he has charmed so many people has always made me happy.

And I am glad that you like this archive, and I believe you will find many other authors whose stories will entrance you, too.

Thank you so much for the feedback. This was one of my earliest stories. I just never expected it to go on as long as it did!

I've just been re-reading this over the past few days - and have shed a tear or two at the end of it. Lovely, lovely writing - beautiful characters and situations, and as I'm sure I've mentioned to you before, as a knitter/spinner/dyer/sewer, I delight in the detail you put in about such crafts. Thank you so much for sharing your tales with us.

So, I just finished reading this for the umpteenth time...it might be my favorite of your stories...but there are a few stories competing for that title (this, Lesser Ring, and Tenant...well, mostly anything with rangers :D). I was at work today (at our local university's cafeteria...not glamorous, but when you're a senior in high school, you take whatever job you can get :P) and I saw a man who was Exactly as I imagine Ruvemir; he had his stature, beard, everything! (though, the glasses weren't exactly Middle-Earthy ;)) Anyway, I just wanted to let you know how much I still enjoy (re)reading your stories, 4+ years after discovering them :)

I have spent the last week or so re reading both Lesser Ring and this. I can't explain why either. Just that I had that kind of a "feeling" I needed to revisit Ruvemir again. And what a lovely re visit it was too. :o)

Now...I have a couple of plot bunnies to sic on you. If you're willing that is. :oD

First...I'd love to know just what The Royal Family of Harad ended up recieving as an addition to the Family. A Prince or a Princess? Also what Aragorn and Arwen's reaction to the news, which I have no doubt Aragorn saw happening in the Palantir, and what gifts they sent to newborn and Family. Also Pippin's reaction, as he was there when the announcment was made there was a new baby on the way.

Speaking of newborns...I'm a Great Auntie!! My niece Lisa had a lovely and healthy baby boy on Saturday and they've named him Parker. The first Grandchild for my Sister and Brother in Law and first Great Grandchild for my Mom and Judy's Dad.

If you could pass that news along to everyone over at LJ, I'd really appreciate it. Yes, I'm still having problems w/it, but now I think it's just due to how old this computer is and my slower than slow still on Dial Up connection thanks to being in Rural Canada. I did get a laptop earlier in the Spring, and it works wonderfully in the real world where there's High Speed/WiFi, but there's no connection I can see for the plug in for a modem connection. I may just be missing it, but I don't think so.

The next time I'm over at my Sister's though, I plan on posting a very long catch up post over there. Not sure when that'll be though. Anyway...

Second plot bunny!! You mention during the Feast for both the New Year and to celebrate the dedication of the Memorial Elanor had pride of place at the table beside Aragorn in honour of it also being her Birthday. I can't help but wonder just what she was thinking or feeling at that moment. I'd think it would be quite the experience for any child, but especially for a Hobbit child.

Okay then...I'm either still your friend or you're ready to throttle me...LOL!! :oD

As always, I so enjoyed both of these stories and keep enjoying whatever you share w/us of your newer stories whenever I see a new posting of yours on the main page here. Hope you have a fantastic Summer and I'm sure it'll come to no surprise at all to you I'm counting the days until a certain cauldron's lit in London in a few weeks time. ;o)

Take Care and ((((HUGS))))

after reading this how many times, today pondering if i could get to sleep after 36 hours of wakefulness i spot this:

Pando and Ririon had made the day before on Sir Meriadoc’s figure, and found it was almost ready for detailed shaping. Again it was the lower portions of the figure that he marked for rough cutting, and he directed Ririon and Ruvemir to use their smaller chisels that not too much be removed at a time.

think that it might have been meant to say Ririon and Pando to use their smaller chisels since its Ruvemir marking the sections. nothing life changing or anything just one of those small how did i miss thats? still loving it all the more each read.

Author Reply: No matter how many times this has been gone over, there are STILL errors to be found! Thirty-six hours, eh? That's more than I can stand any more--my years are catching up with me, I find. Thank you so, Nancylea, and I'm so glad to hear from you! Take care and God bless! Now--to correct the same error on all the other sites where this is posted!

So Aragorn is a competent healer? I never would have guessed, Elrohir!(jk :D)
Eregiel was a good choice for a guard; young(and handsome!), strong, able to lead in defense! I fear I am becoming quite enamored of him! So, he lives with his mother when he is in the North; does he have a "lady love"? Or is he young for that, still? Has he been able to grow a beard yet? I hope I'm not overwhelming you with my reviews and questions, but I am beginning to realize that this is my favorite of your chapter stories! It's even beating out "The Tenant from Staddle"! (although, "The Tenant" is still a very close second!)
Well, I can't really concentrate anymore, for my brother is banging away on the piano, so I'll stop writing now.

God Bless!

~Szepilona10~

Author Reply: Oh, indeed Aragorn is competent, at least in the eyes of his Elven brothers. Heh! And I enjoy considering the nature of Aragorn's kinsmen, and hope to continue to explore their histories from time to time.

I don't think I've written of Eregiel having a beard, although in my-verse many of those with the strongest Dunedain heritage either find their beards grow slowly or don't develop at all, considering the amount of Elven influence in their heritage.

I WILL return to Tenant one day, I promise. But this past year has been a difficult one for me due to familial problems, and it's been hard to focus on a good deal, I find.

Szepilona10Reviewed Chapter: 59 on 11/27/2010
Oh, this my favorite chapter of all of your stories! I love Gilfileg! Eregiel might be young and cute(he is...right?), but Gilfileg has such a story! I think that he's lonely and sometimes a bit serious, but I can tell that he cared very much for his mother and that he would do most anything for the people he loves! I saw that he, like Aragorn, got frustrated when he was told to stay behind, but he did it because he knew it was best for his people!

God Bless!

~Szepilona10~

Author Reply: Thanks again so, Szepilona. Gilfileg is a special one, and I may one day write the tale of Gilthor's love for a princess of Dol Amroth, although I have other tales to finish first, of course. And Gilfileg knows his worth among his own folk, at least. Aragorn does well to have so many worthwhile kinsmen!

Szepilona10Reviewed Chapter: 29 on 11/27/2010
So I'm rereading this story and I had forgotten how much I liked it! Eregiel is such a lovely young man; he reminds me of a boy in my math class...only Eregiel is older! I bet Eregiel is really cute! I just love this story but I have one question: Why does Eregiel call Aragorn "cousin" but Hardorn "Uncle"?
I was looking at my stats on here today and realized that I haven't reviewed for a long time, so as I was already rereading this story I decided to drop you a note!
God Bless!

~Szepilona10~

Author Reply: Thanks so, Szepilona. Eregiel is more closely related to Halbeleg by marriage than to Gilraen in my-verse, so he sees Halbarad, Halladan, and Hardorn as his uncles and their sister as his aunt. Aragorn, being more distantly related, he simply refers to as "Cousin" as a default. I suspect that most of the northern Dunedain intermarried frequently, and suspect that there were few among them who did not see Aragorn as a kinsman as a result.

I'm so honored many return to read this anew from time to time, as this is one of my favorite stories I've written. And I so hope that you continue to enjoy this to the end! Thank you so much for letting me know!

Why is Halladan so serious all the time? He never smiles!
God Bless!

~Szepilona10~

Author Reply: Bless you, Szepilona! Oh, he's not serious ALL the time, of course--just when he must be official! Heh!
