That Short, Potential Stir  by Fionnabhair Nic Aillil 3 Review(s)

Love the Eowyn / Arwen time. And the idea of tapestry being less ephemeral than embroidering white threads on white silk shirts. Leaving something solid probably seems much more attractive to Arwen now her time is short.

I don't usually read non-hobbit fics (not because I don't like the others, but because with so many fics out there it is easy to confine myself to the kind I like best) but I am so glad I decided to read this one. You painted such a beautiful picture of Arwen, looking out at the snow, and missing her husband, and drew such a lovely friendship between her and Eowyn. I,too, like to think they would have become fast friends. I love the comparison between embroidery and tapestry. And I love the tapestry that inspired you--I was lucky enough to recieve a reproduction of one of them as a gift last Christmas. This is going down as one of my favorite stories, in spite of not a hobbit to be seen.

Author Reply: I actually saw the Lady and the Unicorn over the summer, while I was in Paris, and its beauty is truly astounding. (I just wish I had found better pictures to link to) I'm glad you liked the story - I must say I enjoyed writing this non-clash of the two 'cloth-horses of Middle-Earth' as someone once put it. There aren't nearly enough Éowyn/Arwen friendship fics around.

First off, I just wanted you to know that I joined this site because I was tired of plodding through goodness knows what on fanfiction.net. This is the second story I've read here, and it's wonderful. I wonder if all the work here is this good?
This was just something I could read and relax by. Simple and yet eye-opening. Good job :)
