The Smell of Mint  by Regina 2 Review(s)
SaoirseReviewed Chapter: 1 on 4/5/2005
O, Regina! I absolutely adore this story. I remembered it again today and knew I had to find it and read it again -- so here I am. It is so very poignant, powerful and touching. You delineate Merry's anger very well, his thoughts are spot-on. I love this:

'But even if Grima did not attack her in that way, I know he violated her mind, made her cold and withdrawn and afraid of all men. ' -- how incredibly sad, but I know what he means. The most awful pain is not in body, but in mind.

In truth, every time *I* smell mint, I think of this. Very good job! Thank you! :)

Merry, the future Sheriff of the West Farthing, must learn to control his rage. Or he might do something he'll always regret. Another truth-ful inserted scene, well done! Regina, Queen of the Shire-folk. ;)

Author Reply: High praise indeed, Nienna, to receive such a title--many thanks! :-) I don't know why Angry!Merry works so well for me, but he does--I play with him a little bit more in "A Whisper of Thunder." Glad you liked this!

PS And thank you for your other great reviews--will be reply to them soon. :-)
