Rubbing Shoulders With Nobility  by Holdur 6 Review(s)

Hi - it's me again. Am really not getting any work done and it's all your fault. I've never been too fond of the hobbits as it's so difficult to get the characters right but you manage. I loved Frodo's thoughts on his contribution and even more when he just says he did his best.

So much like him not to give any credit to the fact that he managed to CRAWL all the way to the Mount. Silly, proud, hobbit.

The old man was great. I don't know who he was but he is my new favourite - loved the way he patted Frodo's head.

Ah, the wisdom of the Elders!
How well you've shown that even when they seem most comical in their aged failings, our Elders have so much to give.
What a blessing his kind words were, not only to Frodo, but now also to everyone who reads your lovely story.
Thank you, and bless you, Holdur!

This is a really neat story. I love the old man's last lines. Wonderful job! I like how you inserted depth into a charming little story.

That was brilliant! I love this story! Too bad Frodo couldn't take those words as a way to recover because the old man was so completely right.

I like this very much. I like the feel of 'so much changed, so much remains the same', which of course, was the whole point of dropping the ring in the fire, - so that the good things, such as grand-dads and libraries, could remain.

Wow. It's amazing how some simple statements can mean so much to the right person. Frodo needed to know that he did what he could and noone expected any more from him. It's good to see that others see this as well.
