Truth and Consequences  by Mariposa 2 Review(s)

*He wanted to deny what he had heard, but looking at his father's still mouth and clear eyes, at the shuttered face of his cousin, he knew the truth of their words in a way that was beyond knowledge--he knew it in the same way he knew the apple trees would blossom in the spring, the same way he knew his mother would never desert him, the same way he knew that he and Goldilocks were the two halves of one soul.*

This was absolutely beautiful. The entire story, so far, but the above paragraph especially. I look forward to the next chapter! Wonderful job so far! :-)

Author Reply: Actually I don't have any more planned for this one, although you never know when the bunny will bite. :-) I wrote this for Marigold's Challenge 8, so the idea came from a plot bunny of hers, and it practically wrote itself. I am so glad you enjoyed it!

I feel as if I'm about to settle back with the hobbits and read all those tomes with them. Wonderful idea you have here! My favorite so far?

"... Merry cocked his head and regarded his cousin. Beneath the comfortable, responsible exterior of the Thain, Merry thought he could see a much younger Pippin: a twenty-eight-year-old hobbit setting off with courage and gaiety and fear, unsure of anything, questioning everything. The years fell away and the Master of Buckland himself was no longer an aging hobbit, a husband and father and manager of a large estate: He was merely Merry, curious and enterprising, wanting to protect Pippin from anything that might threaten."

I'm going to love this, I can tell already! Thanks for yet another gift of your talent! :-)
