Shield Arm  by songspinner 4 Review(s)

This is a touching story of a tribute by friends to a friend. In the movie version of FotR, I thought it was so sad when Boromir comes to himself after Frodo disappears, and the Ring lets go of him. He's sitting on the ground saying,"Oh no, what have I done?" Then later you can hear him calling for Frodo and yelling he's sorry! He was a good friend to the members of the Fellowship, and a wonderful brother to Faramir, a dutiful son, a strong warrior, and absolutely loyal to his city and its people. I'm so glad you have him remembered for the good in him...he certainly paid the price for his one lapse! I loved the glimpses of the other characters, and their remembrances/reactions to Boromir/the memorial. Something as simple as Legolas grabbing Gimli's arm the first time he sees the new statue...so emotional. Just a nice, nice story about one of the saddest parts of LotR.

So many good qualities - kind, considerate, patient, loved, loving, supportive, protective. And all he is generally remembered for is a moment of weakness when the wretched ring overcame his good sense.

I like the love the remaining walkers show for him.

What I really like about this is how you manage to keep a complicated Boromir in front of us: he's the valiant warrior, sheltering brother, kind friend, and still the one who fell to the ring's seduction. And in the end, you leave us with hope. Very nicely done.
