Pipfan, I don't know what you mean by this not being one of your better stories! I thought it was fantastic! Just the right mix of humor and morals. Great family dynamics too. All in all a terrific read!

Author Reply: I was going to answer your lovely review yesterday, but my body suddenly crashed at around 9:00pm. I wanted to be a bit more coherent when I replied. :-)

Thank you for taking the time to read it! I don't think its a *bad* story at all, although it still needs a bit of tweakage here and there. I thought it was only a year ago that I posted this--how time flies! From the looks of the dates, it was *two* years ago. :-P

Again, thank *you* for reading and your encouragement--it goes a long way. :-)

“Papa, I feel...I don’t know--embarrassed, for what I did yesterday. I promise I won’t ever play the fool like that again.”

Now there's an interesting promise. Wonder how far that will go? LOL This was a great story. I always enjoy your Merry and Pippin adventures. There's nothing like a good scheme and my favorite hobbits in the hands of a very skilled writer to put me in a good mood. I'm in a very good mood now, PF! Thank you!

Author Reply: Cool! I'm happy to see you're in a good humor now. "...ever play the fool like that again." Yes, that was one promise our little Pip couldn't keep no matter how hard he tried! At least until he's more grown up... Thanks for reading!

Looks like Merry is in charge of the big cover-up. I wonder how successful he'll be now that he has Pervinca to deal with in all of this and a very sick Pippin. I think the future Master of Buckland has his hands full in all of this and I am also wondering if that wizard can be trusted to keep quiet.

Author Reply: I have this whacky idea that Merry gets himself and Pippin into a lot of mischief--though Pippin does quite well on his own, too. He's duped the wizard into thinking that he's the "angel" while little Pippin is getting fingers pointed at him. What will Merry do when his cover is blown? Oh, the bunnies that are hopping around here!

In Seahobbit, Gandalf makes mention of meeting Pippin a few times before; in the road playing truant (Smoke) and while trying to make daisies sing (Rosie, Marigold, Daisies, and Pippin). I still have yet to cover the fireworks thing. Thanks for reading! :-)

“Hush, Merry! I’m singing! Go play your pipe!”

I laughed until I cried at this bit. This was a prank worthy of both Merry and Pippin. I love this story! Gandalf was very funny too! I could see Pip doing his all to sell the songs. I loved the fact that even though they were moved, the dwarves weren't giving too much.

Author Reply: I think the dwarves smelled something was up! I'm glad you had a nice laugh over this--making the Grand Mistress of Laughter have a chuckle makes me feel pretty good! :-)

A very nice story, and with a moral besides.

Pippin's questions about why some people are less fortunate than others reminded me so much of things my own daughter often asked. Some things are univeral.

I really like your writing. Keep up the good work.

Thanks.

Author Reply: Thank you, Connie! I try to have the young hobbits learn some sort of lesson, but it doesn't always work out. Sometimes *I'm* the one learning! Thanks for reading Smoke!

This looks like it might be serious for Pippin. He doesn't seem too worried about his eyes at this point but I believe that his parents are. I was glad to see that he and Pimpernel made up. Can't wait for more!

Author Reply: Well, it's "just" a hit on the noggin that affects his eyesight, however, we have to stay in canon for the Quest...hint, hint. ;-) More will come tomrrow; don't want to deluge the readers. Thanks for reading!

I was so happy to see a new story posted from you. This is starting off really well. I can just see Pippin smoking and telling tall tales to the older lads. Very funny! Looks like he's been caught though and now I imagine revenge is on the way. I'm off to read more. I'm glad Pearl talked you into posting it.

Author Reply: Thanks, Grey Wonderer--though the story isn't exactly "new", but I'll take the compliment! :-) I often see my Pippin as a sweet, gentle, *very* mischievous lad--and I adore your little Pippin and Merry, too!
