Travellers' Tales  by Alawa 4 Review(s)

As I've said elsewhere, lovely! One of the nice subtle touches is the symbolism of Bilbo's thinking about the ring, the bag of gold, and the last line: 'Some things were far more precious than any gold.'A very Tolkienesque sentiment.
cheers,
Maya

I absolutely love this tale. I love the atmosphere of the rainy afternoon, the cosiness of Bilbo's room in contrast to the autumn weather, which makes Bilbo's room appear all the more comfortable. And Bilbo's boredom in combination with his inability to do something he has set himself to do is oh so familiar.;-) But there is also his memory of the Ring that still cannot let go, which adds something dark to the story.

And then there's Aragorn. He seems in dire need of some tea and cake and storytelliing in front of a comfortable fire. :-)

Yes, it's that horrible 'longer life not more life' thing that the Ring has going for it.

And then there's Aragorn. He seems in dire need of some tea and cake and storytelliing in front of a comfortable fire.

I'm sorry, I'm completely shameless, I just can't seem to keep the Ranger out of it. :-)

I'm so glad you enjoyed it fliewatuet. Thanks for reading and commenting. Alawa

Bilbo is always a delight and this is a wonderful chapter. I enjoyed the descriptions of all of Bilbo's things as he tried to find something interesting to do. Good thing a friend showed up! Lovely story!

Author Reply: Thanks. Bilbo is my favourite hobbit, I think. I'm glad to share my story. :-) Alawa

I have to admit this sounds cozy rather than depressing. I love rain. And sitting by a fire, writing, eating cake, talking to a friend. What could be better?

Author Reply: Indeed! And I'm glad Bilbo remembered that he likes it to :-) Alawa
