Lovely! What a sweet vignette, and there are wonderful deep currents running throughout. The sea longing, Legolas' relationship with his father, his bond with Aragorn and now Gimli... all give a rich history and depth to this interlude. Very nicely done.

What a beautiful little story. You've characterised this friendship so well.
So glad I chanced upon it. Thank you for sharing it with us!

I really enjoyed this. Thank you.

I think that you represented very well the tensions between the two characters, especially as shown on screen. I have always wondered how Legolas told his father about settling down in Ithilien - I don't imagine that his father was very happy to learn that his (youngest/only/one of his) son(s) was going to leave the family home and live cheek by jowl with Men! And the dwarvish connection cannot have been welcome either. Poor Legolas!

Here you show that Legolas is intending to keep his promises to Aragorn and to Gimli; and you also present a part of the price he is to pay for that. And what it means to him to do so. And the backbone that is required along the way.

I like it. And it has a few teasers in it refering to Legolas, Aragorn and Thranduil's past that would be interesting to develop. But this by itself is great interaction between Gimli and Legolas on what must be on Legolas's mind at the end of the quest.
