Yes, at this time Denethor is still loth to lose the Captain....

Author Reply: Yup, he may not like him, but Thorongil is still a valuable addition to Gondor's forces.

What a nice image. You're getting me all hopeful for an update of "Doomed to Live" now...

Author Reply: My Aragorn muse complains that this image is not nice. But with posting all those drabbles I rediscovered on my harddrive I am myself getting hopeful that "Doomed to Live" might make some progress one of these days ...

I have images in my mind of the kinds of diversions the Lord of the Northern Rangers might consider presenting. Oh, I love this one!

This fairly begs for elaboration! A diversion for what? Why did it go so horribly wrong? What *did* happen to Thorogil that even the healer asks that question? Was the 'cost' really so surprising--or did that play a role in why Thorongil volunteered?
So many questions...I'd beg you to answer them in a story, but I'd be afraid of distracting you from Doomed to Live (hint hint). I understand how busy life can be, though.
Great writing, as usual. Thank you!

Author Reply: Thanks for the review. I agree with you that this begs for elaboration. Unfortunately, my muse came up only with this snippet. Though I am fairly certain that the 'cost' was not surprising for Thorongil but among the reasons he volunteered. I, too, am trying to find out more about the circumstances, but for the moment, 'Doomed to Live' and 'Frost and Thaw' have precedence (don't want to wake any of the peacefully sleeping plottbunnies under my desk).
