When Adventure Knocks  by Lily Dragonquill 45 Review(s)

Lovely interlude, and a good vision of the early childhood of our favorite young Hobbit.

Thanks for the story.

Author Reply: Thank you so much for reading this story. I'm very happy you enjoyed it. You know, in fact, there was no foreshadowing planed but you are the second one to tell me you see foreshadowing. And Balin has certainly learned something about young hobbits... and, I guess, so has Gandalf :)

Thanks again!

Poor little Frodo. A bit too much all in too short a time for such a little one.

Lovely imagery, and so true to life.

I love the story, and feel the foreshadowing of the day when Frodo will walk oh, so much further.

Those who travel with children WILL experience this--again and again.

Poor little Frodo, stuck in a mouse hole! And then promised (probably he won't let Bilbo get away with not telling him) a tale on his poor father. Balin is definitely going to get an education in child development among hobbits, isn't he? Loving it.

*laugh* Great ending!
I loved how they had to convince Primula everything was ok, and the comment about who Frodo got his talkative nature from... I also liked Frodo climbing on Gandalfs lap to say goodbye to him *cute*

Author Reply: Yep, Primula and Frodo have a lot in common :)

I'm very happy you liked it. I guess, I will miss young Frodo.

Why do I get the feeling Primula isn't going to like this?

Author Reply: That's an easy one to answer :) She didn't even like Frodo going to Bilbo and I doubt she would like a *huge* dwarf being so close to her little one.

The tadpoles are certainly not easy to erase from Frodo's mind - and neither is the pond. Yet, Bilbo is stubborn too and the thought of tadpoles doesn't please him as much as his little cousin.

I recognize some of the story from another time, but didn't remember the "monster at the door" at the end of the chapter. Gotta be Gandalf or a Dwarf. Love it!

Love the imagery here. Dear Frodo, wanting to make things right for Uncle Bilbo! Lovely.
