Jolly good,Jolly good!Love the badgering between Legolas and Aragorn, its the little things that make a story awesome.Very clever with the twins and Thranduil, sneaky little devils those Rivendellers.Top notch, more please!

Author Reply: Thank you. it's the little details I try to throw in to make things more interesting without getting the reader bogged down.

I have fun with the verbal goings on between Legolas and Aragorn. Those two are so great together. And you gotta love those twins. :o)

More will be coming.

Author Reply: I thought butter and honey on bread sounded like something both Legolas and Aragorn would love.

The twins are great. I love them, too. I wish they had been in the movies.

But can Legolas really blame his ada? It is, afterall, an ada's job to keep his child from intentionally wandering into harm's way. ;-) Terrific chapter! I especially enjoyed the breakfast banter...though Legolas should have left him to make in own breakfast. Aragorn's going to get spoiled. ;-)

Author Reply: I think Legolas understands how Thranduil feels. It's just that, to his way of thinking, it is time his father 'got over it', so to speak. He doesn't want his father to lose faith in his ability to take care of himself outside of Mirkwood.

Glad you liked the breakfast banter. As you know, I try to add a bit of humor now and again, both for a change of pace and because I think those two are often funny together. I think they spoil each other.

BTW, I hope you liked the ending to "The Wrong Path".

Oh my. Not only a trip to Black Mountain, but one made without Thranduil's knowledge. That can only come to a bad end! I understand Legolas's frustration though. He's an adult and a capable warrior. This must be making him crazy. After a while, he would have to break out or begin to doubt himself.

Author Reply: You are right on all counts, daw. Thranduil knows how frustrated Legolas is, but after what happened with Mordraug, he is just too terrified of losing Legolas for good, not realizing, yet, that trying to force him to stay in Mirkwood might do the same thing. If Legolas didn't get free, he would begin to think that it was more than Thranduil wanting to keep him safe; it was lack of faith in his abilities outside of the realm.

I can sort of see why Legolas is feeling reckless enough to take on this trip, but it does seem a bit of an extreme way to show your father that you can look after yourself.

The patrol over the next rise must just have been the last straw.

The twins have been a bit dumped on by this - they get him permission to spend six weeks visiting Elrond, only to have it turn into Visit to Death Mountain. Not quite what they had in mind - or, come to that, to get Legolas out of Mirkwood EVER again.

Author Reply: Even thought Legolas had already agreed to go to Black Mountain before the twins showed up, hearing about the nearby patrol just reinforced Legolas's determination to go. It just happened to be a most dangerous trip that showed up at that time, thanks to Aragorn.

The twins were taken by surprise, but rest assured they will throw themselves into the adventure wholeheartedly. I wonder myself if Thranduil will ever let Legolas leave Mirkwood again, at least until the year 3018. :o)
