I don't know what to do...Should i do something evil to you or let you live? Reason why i want to do something evil to you, is simple: 1) POOR LEGOLAS!!! 2) Blood? What about vampire's...if they are gonna drink from howler, what then? Well, maybe i just over reacted...I guess there is no vampire's in the middle-earth???

But i can't do something evil to you...because you are too good writer...Damn, for that...

I just watched Return of the king- movie- extented DVD edition (have you seen it?), and i almoust died from laught, it was because Legolas and Gimli had drinking-competition...And legolas, of course, won the game...

Please write more fast, because i really like your stories...if you didn't get that yet??? =)

Greetings from your Finnish-reader....

(If there is something wrong on my writing, remember that i'm very young and english isn't my mother-language...*evil grin*)

Author Reply: Yes, of course, you should let me live. How else will you find out what happens? There were indeed vampires in Middle-earth. Tolkien only named one of them, which was Thuringwethil, a servant of Morgoth and Sauron. They were described as being bat-like creatures, so I guess they weren't the kind that looked human like Dracula did, for instance.

I'm so glad you like my writing. I'll have to take care to keep it good, so you won't hurt me.

The extended edition of ROTK comes out here (the US) on Tuesday. I've already ordered it, so I should have it by the end of next week, hopefully. I can't imagine Legolas and Gimli having a drinking contest. That should be good.

I remember you are from Finland. Don't worry about your English. I understand you just fine.

Interesting. The twins and Aragorn are like detectives here. Legolas is actually kind of amusing as he proudly tells what he knows. He apparently is past worrying!

Author Reply: Interesting observations. There is an element of amusement there, as well as frustration. The next chapter will show a lot of Legolas's inner thoughts.

Very good. The angst was nicely written. :-) Now, if you could assure me that this isn't a matter of drinking the blood of a Howler turns one into a Howler, I'd appreciate it muchly.

Author Reply: Thank you so much. If only I could reassure you one way or the other, but I can't spill the beans just yet. I'm sure you'll still be able to sleep at night until I reveal all. :o)

I can totally picture Legolas retelling what he knows of the howlers and then straying off topic or something like that. I think its a good image to show his condition. And I totally forgot about the part when Legolas bit the howler and swallowed the blood, that had left my mind completely. Can't wait for more.

Author Reply: Thank you. The straying off topic showing Legolas's condition was exactly what I was going for.

The part about swallowing the blood is the crux of Legolas's problems and that leads to the problems Aragorn and the twins have had and they all will have.

I feel it is ominous that only the leader speaks. I hope my imagination isn't working overtime. It seems terribly ironic that biting back might be what is causing Legolas to be so ill - except he might have frozen to death if not for the fever.

However - I'm sure they're not going to escape from this web of difficulties too easily! (Where would be the fun in that?)

Author Reply: Your imagination, while interesting, is a bit off target here.

I agree that it is ironic that the thing that is making Legolas so ill is also the thing that saved him from freezing to death.

Of course, their difficulties aren't over. There would indeed be no fun in that. :o) We must have more angst!

'That plan sounded so simple. He didn’t think about the fact that the chances were quite good that it was he, his brothers and his wounded friend, who would become the ones being sought.'

That one paragraph is more doom-laden than any cliff-hanger I've read! Great chapter again - Legolas's confusion is very well written, and very worrying. He's really not with it. I feel that his omission of the fact that only the howler leader spoke will be significant - perhaps the others can't, so capturing one will be useless?

Author Reply: I'm glad that paragraph had the desired effect. I'm also glad you liked the way I wrote his confusion. It is quite worrying, even to me!

I have to tell you that the fact the leader is the only one who has spoken to Legolas is not significant, at least, not in the way you may think. Good idea, though.
