Of Merry and Pippin  by GamgeeFest 3 Review(s)

That was hilarious!! Like Frodo, I should've known that Merry and Pippin would do something to him. This chapter was great, it had me giggling the whole time. :)

Author Reply: Oh yes, Frodo wasn't going to get out of this one without getting some payback. Those girls are devious! Yay, girls! Glad it had you giggling. :)

“Never trust a Took and a Brandybuck,” Sound advice from good ole practical Sam. Glad he didn't want to lie to anyone. That was so like him. Also was pleased that Merry and Pippin got the last laugh. Very funny stuff!

Author Reply: Sam probably couldn't tell a flat out lie if his life depended on it, though he can refrain from mentioning things. Merry and Pippin may have gotten the last laugh with Frodo, but they will be more careful with Pippin's sisters!

Oh my! I had hoped you'd show us what Pip's sisters came up with by way of revenge! This was lovely, and I'm glad you had Frodo go along with it, showing that his own sense of mischief had not atrophied just because he'd come of age. Skeptical Merry, convinced in spite of himself; trusting Pip, taken in immediately; conscientious Sam, managing to go along without *quite* really lying; and the sisters--completely ruthless and devious. I loved that Paladin had not forgotten that he had said to leave payback to the girls. Very nice!
And of course, Merry and Pip would definitely pay Frodo back for his "betrayal".

Author Reply: After a month contemplating what his sisters could possibly do, I decided to just sit down this weekend and start writing. I knew it would be a ghost, but had trouble figuring out the specifics. I hoped the details would work themselves out as I wrote, and thankfully they did.

Merry and Pippin will be more careful around the girls after this. I think the lasses accomplished their goal better than even they hoped. Frodo's still has a devious streak of his own. As he rarely gets to exercise it, he saw this as an opportunity to have some fun. Sam couldn't say no to Frodo, even if Frodo said it was alright. And one good turn deserves another: Frodo really should have seen that coming. :)
