Mid-Summer's Day  by Lindorien 3 Review(s)

Loved the song. For a while, I was confused of who the two players were, but when it became clear, it all took a new light.

I think it's one of the few stories that approaches Aragorn's and Arwen's wedding with respect to Tolkien. And I really think that he would have liked this.

Author Reply: I'm so glad you liked the song! I'm using it elsewhere. I wrote a tune to go with it, but its more a variation on an Irish tune, so I'd probably get in trouble for poaching. It's a 'semi-poach', as far as the music goes. But the words? all mine. You know - the title seemed timely and I so admire how simple Aragorn and Arwen's wedding was. Definitely Tolkien to keep it so matter of fact. Thanks so much for that lovely compliment. Lindorien

What a lovely song! For a sentence or two, I thought it was Faramir talking to Eowyn, but enjoyed the story even more to think of Faramir and Arwen waiting to be summoned, and him singing to the new Queen and sharing a tradition with her. You did a wonderful job tying the entire story to canon....I just thoroughly enjoyed the whole picture you painted here in this story!

Author Reply: I so glad you liked this linda! I wanted to do something of Aragorn and Arwen's wedding day, but wanted to make it sweet and simple, just as the Professor describes it in the Tome. And mid-summer's day? A time of fairs and dancing and singing and celebrating. It seemed fitting there would be some traditional waltz that everybody would know - probably something that opens the evening and possible is the indication for the last dance of the evening also. Thanks so much! Lindorien

A lovely vignette, and a very pretty song.

Author Reply: Thanks, Maya! I was beginning to wonder if anybody even liked it. I saw your poetry, so it's twice as nice to hear from you. Thanks. Lindorien
