Interlude  by Bodkin 4 Review(s)

Oooo! Liked this one too! I'm trying to limit myself to one a day so I have something to look forward to while the other unfinished stories I'm reading are taking their time being updated. Thanks for writing so many stories!

Author Reply: I am glad you liked it - I'm quite fond of Celeborn and Galadriel. I think they must have had a tremendous love and need for each other.

I think a lot of people must be on holiday right now - because story production seems to have slowed down rather, although lots of goodies are still appearing.

I hope you continue to enjoy.

This was beautiful! I love the way it ended with the Evening star - which recalls both what was left behind (Arwen) and all the people now rejoined (like Elwing and Earendil). I think you're so right that they would both need a long rest before starting to do something new; just to acclimatize. And I like the fact that they are together again - the way you write them they seem so right for each other.

Is this going to be a long story? I hope so!

Would it be possible for me to put it on my website? I already have 'Letters from Home', and it would be wonderful if the series could continue... Please?

Author Reply: Goodness - thank you! I was trying for those bits of symbolism, so I am glad it worked for you. It would take time to adjust, wouldn't it, and some people would take much longer than others, which wouldn't matter because time doesn't really count here. I like them together - they are each other's touchstone.

I don't know if it will go any further - I sense it would need some kind of plot - (although the Paradise of Elves stuff seems to do without it!) - involving thinking about where they were going and what they were going to do.

Yes, feel free to put it on your website. It's a tremendous compliment.

Author Reply: PS - There is also Healing which pretty much carries on where Letters from Home left off.

Oh, very nice! I certainly do like this series you are spinning. And you talked about something I thought might make Celeborn hesitant -- idleness. I like the idea that there are still places to explore, even in Valinor. Wonderful story!

Author Reply: Thank you. I cannot visualise Galadriel accepting a role as anyone's inferior or Celeborn sitting around confined by stone walls twiddling his thumbs. They would have to carve out their own destiny in some realm of their own. I would like to see them moving further west into great untouched deciduous forests with their Galadhrim.

Oh my goodness, I am always stunned by how beautifully you can write, Bodkin. I loved the sense here of the connection of Elves and the land, right down to the natural image of Galadriel's hair as a waterfall. And I liked the talk about how hard it was to leave Arda and what they each had suffered and what they planned to do now. Just gorgeous, Bodkin.

Author Reply: Thank you - I am blushing. I love these two. There is always such a feeling of challenge between them, combined with love and duty and a bond with nature. They understand each other - I suppose they would after seven thousand years or so. I was trying to find out some of those evasive details (I really don't know the background too well) and Galadriel appears to have been under 150 when she left for Middle Earth - practically a baby in Elven terms. It must be really odd to be back after so long. In some ways it could possibly harder to return than to arrive for the first time - and I cannot imagine either of these two sitting around or waiting for other people to tell them what they could do.

Unfortunately they cannot sit around and talk for ever - they will have to get to action sooner or later. (That means plots! Too much thinking!)
