Purpose  by Bodkin 6 Review(s)

I find the idea of a "new father" panicked Elrond very amusing but what really touched me in this story was how Frodo's generous spirit shines through even in his melancholy. And as far as the last few paragraphs go, well... all I can do is smile and say, "Awwwwwww!"

What a Lovely Story! Thank you for Sharing it!!

Author Reply: Thank you. I worry about Frodo. He should have someone to love over there with all those elves!

This is lovely. I really love the idea that any time Frodo has been left alone and feeling isolated during his life, a child has come along to help ease that pain.

Author Reply: Poor Frodo suffered from losing his parents - he seems always to have needed the company of people younger than himself to look after. Why shouldn't he have a child to protect in the West!

Aww, this is perfect. And as long as elflings take to grow up, the little one should still be a little one when Sam finally shows up! I love this. I've read too many angsty stories lately where Frodo was too frail to even enjoy the Undying Lands. Thank you for cheering him ( and me ) up.

Author Reply: Thank you. I can just visualise Frodo protecting a little Elrondion. I only hope the elfling will be less mischievous than Pippin (or the twins)!

What a lovely, insightful story! I wish there was a chapter 2 coming -- I think Frodo would make a wonderful teacher for a child, and give the parents some much-needed rest!

Author Reply: He would, wouldn't he! And I can't help but feel that he would desperately need something like this to keep him sane. I quite like thinking of Elrond being taken off-balance, too, and being rather less sure of himself.

This is very interesting! An elfling would certainly be a wonderful distraction for Frodo, and in return I think he would be a wonderful helper to raise any child, but I wonder if I am reading the implications correctly. I went back and re-read it, but the timing of the different parts of the chapter are ambiguous. Did Celebrian decide to have a child, just to give Frodo somthing to do? It boggles the mind!

Author Reply: No, not even Elrond and Celebrian are that selfless! She knew she was pregnant when they were discussing Frodo and his problems.
