| I imagine Lobelia would have been an awful mother-in-law. Miranda Bracegirdle is probably someone she can control, Diamond is someone she really cannot. The lullaby was heartbreaking. I thought it was a really sweet little touch of yours to have it be pippins room that she was staying in. | Yay yay YAY! Very happy! I love where your going with this story. I love Diamond she's so cool! I can't wait tofind out what happens next with her and Pipin. Keep writing, it's such a pleasure to read! | Poor Diamond is in shock right now and too stubborn to cry in front of Lotho. Pretty horrible situation all round. Interesting that Lotho was honest with Diamond in his answer to the inevitable 'why me' question. Author Reply: You are quite right in your guess there. It probably would not help her too much to cry in front of him (though, it's not helping either that she's *not* crying). I debated whether to have Lotho give an honest answer to his question, and decided that there was no reason for him not to. At least not yet... | This story is coming along very well! You captured Lotho's sick little schemings, and set up Diamond's character as strong but delicate at the same time. Good job :) Author Reply: I forgot you reviewed this chapter :P Thanks so much - I'm glad Diamond's character is likable. I've tried to make her fairly unique from how other authors have portrayed her. The next chapter is in its planning stage, so look out for it soon in your inbox :P | |

| I shudder to think of what will befall Diamond's father, poor hobbit. Father and daughter seem very close, the line about diamonds being more precious than emeralds said it all. The situation in the North sounds pretty bad - they probably found a balance that worked for them, but Lotho actions are making them dance with one leg. I hope the next chapter arrives soon. Author Reply: Being a bit of a daddy's girl myself, I enjoy writing about close father-daughter relationships. I also feel that when a father has only one daughter, and many sons, he's bound to dote on her at least a little. Next chapter should hopefully be posted soon. - Pervinca | |

| Nifty! I'm totally intrigued by this story, and I can't wait to see where you are going to take it. Your style is very readable and evocative, and you are setting up some lovely tensions that I'm eager to see played out. Wow, putting our dear Peregrin's own bride in marital jeopardy! *grin* Waiting for more! Author Reply: Intrigued is good :) I was worried when I first started writing this story that some people would find it a little...well, sick, I suppose. But the events of this one are becoming somewhat important in another story, so I thought the tale needed to be told :P Plus, I'm a sucker for alternate couples. | Lotho certainly has an inflated view of himself, but then I doubt he enjoys his visits to reality. I hope future chapters follow soon. Author Reply: Though there's only a few glimpses of him from LotR, I certainly got the vibe that Lotho was a rather self-obsessive hobbit - I mean, after all, he named himself Chief of the whole Shire. | Pervinca, This is a fabulous story! I read it earlier today, and I confess I await the next chapter with bated breath. You've done a terrific job so far, and I look forward to R&R the remaining chapters when they arrive. Author Reply: Thank you for your lovely review! | That slimy little worm! The jerkwad is after Diamond, isn't he? Slimeball Lotho should be his name. Is this the story you were telling me about once before--the one with your namesake? I think I'm evolving from the humour stories. They all seem to be a bit angsty now, but I'll try to add a few comical moments (even in this one!) cos I know you like them :) I may have mentioned this one to you, but I'm not exactly sure which one you're referring to.
