Cadenza  by Rose Sared 3 Review(s)

Duh, I had not picked up on the fact that the danger was so immediate. It was strange to see Aragorn as fairly helpless, but the assassins planned their strike well and a king by the very nature of his job exposes himself more than a fighting man would. Still it gave me a sick feeling to get his POV of being taken down. I liked the way Legolas went straight to Aragorn and then took charge of things like the lord that he is.

The rebels have done some serious damage, but in vain, and payback is going to be heck. ~TF

Author Reply: Or even worse than heck! Lordly Leggy gets me going too, I admit rather shamefacedly, to enjoying building him up, if only so I can knock him down again. Naughty author.

Ai! Too late, too late! And treachery all around! Aragorn wounded and poisoned, Gimli with a headache, Aglarond/Helm's Deep in pieces, and the stupid Dunlanders have disappeared into the hills, only to return for further havoc later (one assumes!) I love it!!

Your treatment of the connection between Legolas and his friends is very good - I loved Legolas telling Aragorn it wasn't his time to go yet, even if he had to spend his own life to keep him (Aragorn) in this one. And all the while he was trying not to dwell on Gimli's welfare. Legolas using his elven ability to strengthen and support his friend was a nice touch too. (Elven life support - hmmmmmm!)

Also am developing a fond spot for Gliver - loved the way he put Gimli in that chair with the statement of now you can tell the others you're OK without falling at their feet!! *snicker* You tell him, Gliv'!

Great chapter -- and I came back to school today to find THREE chapters to read -- oh JOY!!!! Hope you don't mind being drowned in reviews today :)!

Author Reply: I cannot imagine any writer who would mind being drowned in reviews! I am so glad you are enjoying the tale I warned a friend of mine today that I may have to find out where you live and kidnap you to keep you by me when I am feeling very discouraged about the quality of my writing.
Thanks for your time

I like heroic Legolas, but I have to admit that the picture that stays with me in this chapter is of Aragorn's black-clad soldiers fighting their way successfully through the crowd. I like the idea of this well-trained force, coming to their king's aid. Ascalon is good too. I want a horse like that.

Author Reply: Me too so my daughter will stop falling off the one she has! Mind you I mustn't dis poor Dusty he is the perfect paddock pet, no maintenance and as cuddly as you could ever want.
I am glad you like Aragorns guards, I was taken to task early in this tale for disregarding the Kings guards and they have become more and more real to me as the tale progresses - mind you OC's that grow to take over the tale should be no surprise to you!
Thanks for the kind words
