Gaernil  by Elerrína 4 Review(s)

Very nice. I like stories about the sea-longing, and this one is simply beautiful. How sad it must have been for Legolas to see the elven lands fading into decay, and his own people all leaving; knowing he was bound by a promise to stay for Aragorn :(

Your description of the sea-shore at the beginning is wonderful!

That was very moving. Yes, I have seen the sea in these ways. As a child, I lived on the water. Now, as an adult, my profession requires me to live far from the ocean. This tale indeed describes the sea longing. Thank you for all of your hard work....

Author Reply: I'm so glad it touched you and I really appreciate the feedback. I live relatively close to the sea, but every time I see it, it pulls at something inside me: it is so vast and beautiful, but it is impossible to prevent a feeling of sadness. I imagine Legolas experienced the same emotion, but greatly magnified.

How beautiful! I've often tried to imagine the pain and longing Legolas felt as he waited all those years and watched everything he knew and loved fade away. This captures the longing and sadness very well - I especially like the questions you had Legolas asking at the beginning - very effective! Again, just beautiful! (sniff!)

Author Reply: Thank you :) I think it began with those rhetorical questions running through my head...and they couldn't be spoken by anyone but Legolas! *grin* I'm so glad you enjoyed reading, and thanks for reviewing.

That was lovely. The descriptions of the sea were beautiful, and very heartfelt. I've read many accounts of the sea-longing, but this is my favourite.

Author Reply: Thank you so much! I adore the sea, but with a similar sadness to that which I imagine the Elves feel (just not as strong), so I often find myself writing about it :) I'm glad that you enjoyed it.
