Assorted Drabbles  by Forodwaith 76 Review(s)

Wonderfully evocative, Forodwaith. It reminded me in a way of the old couple in the movie Titanic who do not even try to find the boats - only here there's a really nice element of guilt, and of doubt: that line "what - if anything - lay beyond the wave." I wouldn't mind seeing more from these two, but even as it stands, it's an unsettling vignette that leaves me thinking. Which is of course just what I like best. :^)

Thank you so much! This is a wonderful drabble and I love seeing Aragorn and Arwen having such a precious moment together with their son. After all their years apart they deserve many such moments. It was just perfect. :)

Author Reply: I'm glad you liked it! It was interesting to think of Aragorn as a father -- I haven't written him in that role before.

I don't read many drabbbles, but I liked this. You captured Tolkien's characters but also made them recognizable new parents.

Hi, Forodwaith ! Thank you very much for our little story- loved it... Vampfan30--- Dear Forodwaith, I thank you very much for our little story-I loved it,too....Ansley!!!(vampfan30 jr.)When I saw that it was up, I had her come over & read it. When she got to the part where the Elf showed up, she lit up & giggled. It was a definite hit with her, thanks so much.....

Author Reply: I'm glad you both enjoyed it. It's a little light on Legolas, I know, but I hoped the mother & daughter pair would make up for that.

Interesting thought - how Arwen reacted to giving birth to mortal children. In some ways it might have been harder for her than binding her own life to Aragorn's. She would have to have learned to embrace the gift not to feel that she had condemned them to death ...

So many things that will not have crossed their minds in the years before their hopes came true.

Yes, aging indeed. And for Aragorn and Arwen's daughter it must have felt odd to realize her parents were yet mortal.

Yes, our Strider, seeking Gandalf for Frodo's sake. Lovely!

Too bad Castamir wasn't dealt with before the Kinslaying became what it did, and before the Usurper and his folk forever destroyed what integrity might have remained in Umbar.

Well, as another "pervy Ranger fancier," I also appreciate this one.

A fitting memory for that moment.
