| very deep and intriguing story...i enjoyed it a lot oddly enough ( i guess i really do like angst hehe) It was a creative idea to write about a series of memories that have been twisted that drove him to claim the Ring... poor hobbit :*( indeed a very torturous thing for anyone to have done, especially poor Frodo... never really had a life of happiness from the beginning :*( very well-written~ hannon le, ~Periantari Author Reply: Thank you for your comments. I am especially proud of this story, it is the hardest I have written to date. If you are not one to usually read angst then I am that much more pleased that you liked this story despite your own natural aversion. That is seriously impressive. I actually think Frodo had a life full of happiness. There were hard times, there always are, but mostly there was happiness. Prior to the quest the two worst things to happen to Frodo were the loss of his parents and Bilbo's leaving for Rivendell. I have been through loss of that nature myself. My life is still a life of happiness despite the losses and hardships. I think Frodo is the same way and that it why he was able to resist the ring as long as he did. Frodo was content until the ring started messing with his mind. In my story I strove to show how the ring went prowling through Frodo's memories to find something to work with. The ring cought Frodo's attention by using what Frodo was familure with then gradually twisting and warping those memories. Anyway, I think that all made sense. | Beautiful story, beautifully written! Take your bow, Myst! (again). I wouldn't mind discussing the end...how you feel Frodo triumphed. He may have...but I like that he succumbed to the power of the Ring and put it on, claiming it for his own. It makes him seem more...excuse the term, but more 'human' to me. Is he triumphant because he overcomes the whispers and the old hobbit? Talk to me, Myst! :-) Pippinfan | |
