For some reason, I didn't get notified when you updated! *Gasp!* So I JUST NOW saw all the new chapters!

Needless to say (given my track record of adoring this story ^_^), it doesn't matter that it's Midnight - I'm finishing what you've got up!

Oh, and Pippinfan? Update SOON! <3

This is very cruel of you, taking so long to update and then leaving us with such a cliffhanger. Is it really possible to die of curiosity that has been aggravated by suspense? We'll find out unless you update SOON.

You're not going to kill the baby so soon, are you? That would not be good.

Author Reply: So sorry, Beruthiel! My apologies for taking this long to reply, but RL is still sitting on my shoulders. There should be an update this week, but I have to finish it first so it can be edited by my co-authors. If not for RL, I'd have more in the wings.

I didn't realize that it was a cliffie...but looking at it again, I guess it would be! Oops. I don't like to do that when the updates are this far apart--its not fair. Is it possible to die of curiosity, aggravated by suspense? Don't know, but a cat might!

Take a couple aspirin and wait out the storm... Thank you for reading Roses! :-)

Another great chapter, but the sense of forboding is getting very strong. In a way, I'm glad you hinted that something would go wrong in the beginning, otherwise we would be in for a great shock, I think.

Author Reply: Hello Melilot! Thank you, and my apologies for taking this long to reply.

Yes, I hinted on purpose because I hate watching movies where you *know* the character that you like the most is going to...well, "disappear" halfway through. I dislike "shocks" myself. Chapter 31 is in the making, so another update should be coming this week. Thank you so much for reading Roses!

Great chapter. Hope everything is alright in your real world. I am looking forward to the birth in one way and in another I am worried about all of them. Loved the bit with the lettuce!

Author Reply: Thank you, Grey Wonderer! You are so sweet--and a good friend. Thank you--my apologies for taking this long to reply.

Ah...the lettuce. I got that straight from my own mother a couple weeks ago. That is what she ate while she was pregnant with me...answers why I love salt! I'll choose Pringles over a Snicker's bar anytime!

The birth is in the next chapter...so I'll keep this short so I can finish it up. ;-) Take care!

btw...I will be visiting "Trust a Took and a Brandybuck" either tonight or definitely tomorrow--I definitely deserve a treat! I earned it today!! I loved the first several chapters that I did get to read last weekend! :-)

Once again you've written a great chapter.

I knew something along these lines was going to happen, it just had to.

I find it interesting that so many people visualize Pippin being born too early. I had thought that for many years, but had no idea that anyone else suspected the same thing until I started reading LOTR fanfic. Nice to know others think about this stuff as much as I do, and that I'm not totally out there in my thinking.

Oh, I hope you RL calms down and lets you write more.

Connie.

Author Reply: Hello Connie--and thank you! My aplogies for taking this long to reply.

As far as Pippin being born early, no--you're not "out there". ;-) I was the same as you. Yet it all makes perfect sense: Pippin is obviously the smallest, always calling for a break while on the journey to Crickhollow, very quick to tire out. There is one other reason that is escaping me at the moment, but for a young tween to be doing that is quite odd--especially when he's travelling with a fifty year old and his very healthy friend.

RL is still going strong, but with all the encouragement and support I've received from friends like you, I'm hanging in there. Thank you. :-)

Well, you've been hinting since the beginning that not all would go smoothly. I'm hoping for both Pippin's and Lilas' sake that the baby will live, but you've got me worried for both mother and child. Pip and Lilas have come so far in their relationship from where they began, that a tragedy would be very unfair now. Of course, life isn't always fair. So I'm holding my breath for the next chapter. (And I hope RL lets up on you, too.)

Yes,Lilas and Pippin have come a long way...and I can't say any more than that or else I'll give away the rest of the story. I'll be as quick as I can so that you're not holding your breath for too long! :-) Thank you so much for reading and taking the time to leave a lovely review!
