The Touch of Sight  by LAXgirl 4 Review(s)

Poor elf! I think his frustration with his inabilities is so very believable, as is the twins´ slightly insensitive reaction to him trying to braid his hair. They want to help (and do so a lot!) but they cannot really grasp what this means to him.
And Eowyn - I am afraid her reaction foreshadows that of many others. The way he has changed is difficult to accept - but most of all for himself. I loved the way the little boy drew Legolas out of his misery - a child´s innocnece may be just what he needs to have around!
Great chapter, I´m looking forward to the next.

Author Reply: The twins weren't really trying to be insensitive. Legolas is just very sensitive about his inabilities right now. Don't worry, they're not going to give up on his just yet. The twins'll help Legolas out of this. And yes... you gotta love how little kids can brighten anyone's day like that. Thanks for reading and hope you like any future chapters! Till then! -LAXgirl

I'm so glad the Theo got Legolas out of his funk. All his friends seem to be afraid of him, but do they even try to figure out what he thinks of it all?

Author Reply: Yes, that little child sure does have a way with people. Legolas' friends really aren't scared of him in the true sense of the word, but perhaps just a little bit more wary of him now. They're trying to understand him, but its going to take some time for them to get Legolas' new powers. Something to sink you're teeth into for later on: in fact several of them are going to ask Legolas to actually use his powers to help them with a certain problem that's been going on for the last couple years... Keep a look out for future chapters and thanks for reading! Signing out -LAXgirl

Hey there.
Interesting adaptation of The Dead Zone for Middle Earth. I think one detail you've left out is that a certain amount of Second Sight is normal in Arda; Faramir has it. I suppose precognition is a bit different than what you're going for, but from the original DeadZone movie, Johnny had visions of both the past and the future, just more specific than what Faramir experiences. Perhaps you could use that kinship to explain Faramir's easy acceptance of Legolas's new abilities. And you might use that to have Faramir help Legolas, too.
Just some thoughts.
Cheers,
Chibi-Kaz

Author Reply: Yes. I guess you're right about Faramir and other such characters (ie Galadriel, Elrond, etc, even Boromir I do believe...)showing some signs of second sight, but like you also said, none of their dreams or visions were anything like what Legolas is capable of, and, if i do say so myself, a little more unnatural and frightening in nature... Thanks for liking the story and seeing the Dead Zone connection. Stephen King rocks my world! He's my undisputed favorite author! Thanks again, hope you like future chapters as well! Whew! I am so glad this whole chapter was not a Legolas-throwing-a-tantrum-and-very-depressed story:) Theomir was the perfect remedy! I loved it!:) And now Eowyn believes in what Legolas can do! Ooh, I am all the more eager for the next chapter! A very exciting and interesting story. Please keep it up!;)

Author Reply: Ha ha! I know what you mean. I mean, though it is only natural that after coming out of a coma like Legolas had and finding his life so radically changed that he would be intitled to a bout of depression, I just couldn't see him as staying in it forever. Glad you liked Theomir! Signing out - LAXgirl
