I just read this one and had the odd coincidence (or not, knowing the universe in which I live) of having my 4 year old daughter interrupt me halfway through reading to recite a poem she'd written me as a present. It sounded rather like Merry's letter to his aunt, so you obviously write children very well. :) Wonderful characterization and dialogue...

Author Reply: Wow...thank you so much for that wonderful compliment! It really means a lot to me, as this is one of my favorite stories (that I've written). Awww...your wee lass sounds adorable--and I'll bet you'll save that poem for life. I love to write about hobbit-children--I live vicariouly through them! :-)

I recognized your pen name right off the bat; I read your Firelight story on Marigold's Challenge #3. Very nice! Take care.

What a dear, sweet, heartwarming story! This one big "extended family" is just wonderful, and you can just feel the love everyone has for one another.

Adorable Pippin!

:)

Author Reply: Thank you, Shirebound! That's really what I hoped to come across, and I'm glad you noticed. Thanks for taking the time from what I know must be a busy schedule to read and review the story. :-)

This is so sweet! I love how Pippin insisted on the flower for Merry. So stubborn! He knew what he wanted and he was going to have it. I loved the painted rocks too, as I can remember doing that when I was very much younger. You brought back all of my rock-painting memories! Now, that is something no one has done in a long time. A lovely story! If you will excuse me now, I think I am going to goand locate a suitable rock...

Author Reply: No, no...you guys have it all wrong...as I told another reviewer, little Pippin isn't stubborn; he's just 'set in his ways' at the tender age of three! LOL... :-) You painted rocks? Cool...I *may* have a long, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away! I had to be careful to stay within the guidelines of JRRT, and rock painting seemed the thing to do. Send me a photo of one of your rocks, if you're able to; I'd like to see it. Thank you for reading and reviewing--I enjoyed writing it. Take care.

P.S. I know you must be working diligently on a new story for me to read! ;-) You always come up with something great!

Oh, I dearly *loved* this story! I'm so fond of "byrding" and "faunt" myself. I think Letter #214 is just so full of great ideas, and I'm glad you had this one. Thank you for such a sweet interpretation!

Author Reply: I noticed that when I was(still am!) reading the Conspiracy and When the King Come Back. I wished everyone had access to the letters...I didn't have the book until shortly before I wrote this story. Will be waiting to see what you come up with next. I also wrote about the part of Pearl's 'little mishap', but don't think I'll be bringing that one over from ff.net... Glad you enjoyed it! I enjoyed writing it. Take care, and see you at Conspiracy!

Very sweet, young Pippin is quite the stubborn charmer and Merry reminded me of young boys I've known. Pearl is a wonderful character.

Author Reply: LOL...why does everyone think he's so stubborn (hehehe)...he's merely *set in his ways* at the tender age of three! :-) I thought it was a nice day out for the three of them, especially seeing that I never really did a lot with Pearl, I inluded her in this story. Thanks for reacing the story and reviewing!
