| What a symbol of grief--and to lose the comfort to worse grief still! Author Reply: I didn't state it here, but the two oak trees commemorated Thranduil's dead wife and baby daughter. Apart from the lives lost in the battle, the trees would have been the worst losses he faced. | |

| Very sad and quite chilling. The blackened skeletons image is very effective. Your prose has the cadence of poetry in this one, adding to the emotional impact. This one is one of your strongest, I think. A very good piece! Author Reply: Although 'Thranduil had the victory' in this battle, there was much lost. It makes me wonder what Legolas found when he returned home. | |
