This was deeply sad.

Poor lonely Estel. It's a wonder he coped with the isolation, really. And that he then managed to make the shift to king ... although that's a pretty lonely role, too. Only better dressed.

How very sad and lonely for him! You captured it all quite well, as usual.

I had to reread it about three times for it to click--and then it fell into its place and its meaning. A very good one, Jay--good indeed.

Aragorn's had to be a seriously lonely life. It is easy to see how he would feel isolated when he was traveling in far away lands, but I think you captured here his real isolation--right where he should have been at home. He had a hard life and deserved the rewards he got in the end. Great drabble.
