OH MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS!!!!!!!!!! I got chills reading this! Hideous, horrid moment - Foresight is not a gift to be envied, is it?

Oh my goodness, that was just so powerful! Good job! I loved it!

Wow! Very powerful! You can really see and hear and feel this one clearly. Great imagery and it is perfect for this event/moment. Really well done!

Author Reply: Poor Elrond. This moment of realisation must have been terrible for him - and nothing was ever the same again.

I could feel his heart break with the shattered crystal. Great job.

Author Reply: Thanks!

I liked making the analogy with the broken glass, Elrond's heart, and the peace of Imladris. They all shattered at the same time :(

Knowing the gifts he held, Elrond must have cursed them at the time. But better to know than to remain in ignorance.

How well that moment must have happened just so.

Author Reply: I don't think this was Elrond's foresight, but more the bond he had with his wife. However it happened, it must have been a dreadful moment of realisation.

Okay, that was powerful! Wow! Very angsty and nicely done! Of course everything you write is nicely done, but that usually goes without saying.

Author Reply: I'm glad you liked this, but I wish it could have been a little happier. Poor Elrond :(

Really nicely done imagery here, Jay. The dropped drink, the ripples of stillness, the well of silence. And of course the impact of that final word.

Author Reply: Thanks, Daw - I know you don't really *do* drabbles!

I could picture this scene so clearly, but it was difficult to find the right words to describe it. I'm glad you liked the image of Elrond at the centre of a well of silence - I juggled with that phrase through several changes!

WOW. So few words yet, the heartrending anguish conveyed.

Great job.

Author Reply: Poor Elrond. This sudden, shattering knowledge must have nearly broken him. Yet despite this loss - after so many - he still kept going :/

Poor Elrond.

Yet is it worse to know that your world is shattered at once? Or to be left feeling guilty because you were having fun with your friends while your beloved was being tormented? Don't know. But I do so agree that, from this point on, the tranquillity established in Imladris had become little more than a fragile echo of previous happiness.

I hope he was able to recover his happiness in the Blessed Realm. Although, of course, he then had another grief to bear.

(Apologies for the repetition.)

Author Reply: Of course I don't mind the repetition :) I cross-post most things because I know some people read here at SoA, and others on LJ - and some read both!

The moment of knowing is terrible no matter when it comes. Feelings of guilt added to that can only make matters worse :(
