Squeeeeeeeeeeee!

*Re-reads*

Double squeeeeeee!

I love it! thank you so much, Jay! Hunky twins! Canon! *happy sigh*

And I apologize for not thanking you earlier... RL has kept me away from the fandom for a while now....

Author Reply: Thank you - I'm really glad you liked this. Twins and canon - what could be better? You might also enjoy the latest drabble 'The Darkness Behind' with Elladan and Gimli on the Paths Of The Dead.

Don't worry about the late reply - I hope RL is better now!

I have always been fascinated with E2, Legolas and Aragorn facing battle where their (fore)fathers stood in battle an Age before. I like your picture of the twins here, exactly as I image them, united, naturally.

Author Reply: I love writing about the twins - and they are always together, no matter where they are, or whatever the circumstances. I can't imagine them facing these odds alone - and Tolkien *said* they were both there, together!

Elrond's sons do tend to do things doubly, after all. Excellent.

Author Reply: *Grin*

And Tolkien *told* us that they were together, at the front, 'where the first bitter assault would come'. I love it when my fantasies tie in with canon!

I think that all those who went to the Black Gate must have made their peace with death before they began the march. After all - they cannot have expected to survive it. And death would be infinitely preferable to surviving this battle - unless, of course, Frodo pulled off the miracle. (Hurrah for Frodo!)

Great bit of E2!

Author Reply: I think E2 went to the battle quite prepared to die. The only thing they'd wish for would be that one did not outlive the other for long :(

Moving ficlet, Jay. The reassurance of being together must have been a - albeit little - comfort in this hopeless situation. It's a scene that is missing from the books and movies both; it would've fitted well in both.

Author Reply: Thanks! I wish they'd been in the flms, but Tolkien himself said very little. I think they'd have drawn strength from facing the end together.

Nice.

We don't see much of the sons of Elrond in the original, but this fits well, I think.

Author Reply: Tolkien said that they were at the front 'where the first bitter assault would come', but nothing of how they fared in the battle - apart from the fact that we know they survived. It intrigues me that Tolkien said so little, yet they seem such complex characters!

Oh, yes, so right! And they are wonderful, our sons of Elrond!

Author Reply: *Grin*

Thank you. I must admit, I rather like them here myself :>)
