That was beautiful! I could almost hear the rhythm of the drums in the background as I was reading it.

Author Reply: Great! I really wanted readers to feel the pounding beat of the drums in this - I'm so glad it worked!

What a beautiful sight this would be if you could get close enough to see it. Elves just being elves. I really like the idea that Thranduil's power protects them. ~TF

Author Reply: It's based on the scenes in The Hobbit - though when I re-read that part, I realised that the wood-elves weren't actually dancing. But they could have been, and I'd have loved to be there!

The spells that put out all the lights, and dropped intruders in their tracks, has to be a result of Thranduil's power.

What a beautiful image this makes in my mind. I love it! Wouldn't you love to be there?!

Author Reply: I tried hard with the imagery here - to make it a little primal and wild.

Yes, I would *love* to be there - with Legolas, Thranduil, and all those Wood-elves ...

This is my kind of Wood Elfy celebration! Celumil's been presented and taken back to her bed and they've got down to the serious action!

Lovely.

Author Reply: Yes, it would be exactly how they'd celebrate a birth.

It's supposed to be a few seconds before the dwarves gatecrash the party in The Hobbit - but I think I like your idea better.

Great wood-elfy scene, Jay. The dwarves should beware!

Author Reply: Yes, they stumble on the scene about two seconds after this!

Actually, after I checked that section of The Hobbit, I realised that the elves were feasting and singing, but not dancing. But by that time I'd already got this image in my mind, so wrote it anyway.

Fascinating imagery as they dance and spin in the firelight.

Author Reply: I went for a very Silvan, wood-elfy feel in this. They seem more primal to me - 'more dangerous and less wise', as Tolkien put it.
