That Which Remains  by Nol 6 Review(s)

Lindorien pointed me in the direction of your stories. Can I just say how much this one moved me? Very well done, drawing together the feelings of all who are left behind. I especially liked the bit about the irony of time.

Author Reply: Thank you Maya, glad you liked. I'm oddly fascinated with your name. Maya. Maya. Mayaaaa! Whee, Maya!

Everytime I read this, I just love it more. The bitter sadness that you captured just brings tears to my eyes.

Author Reply: Thank you, Arryn. It's nice to hear that something I wrote makes you feel so. Cheers.

Very nice - very poignant and bittersweet. Celeborn's grief at his loss is very real, even though they will be reunited eventually. And I like the inclusion of Elladan and Elrohir at their father's departure (but of course I do!)

What I really like about this piece is the POV. I realize that is omniscient, but the POV from those left behind. Hae I ever read a piece like this. I don't think so. Not done quite in this way.

Of course, that's in the title - I am really quick tonight.

Happy 18th, Sphinx!

Lindorien

Author Reply: You're my favouritest 'faster than a speeding bullet' person, Lindorien. *nod*

And praise from you is high praise indeed! So glad you enjoyed it - you did help so much.

Kisses, Nol.

Oh, very nice! The ringbears had a profound impact on Middle Earth, but the more important impact was on the people they loved. Really an interesting, beautiful exploration of that. Really enjoyed this story.

Author Reply: It's interesting how they functioned on two levels, really - on the one hand they were these world saviours who held the fates in their hands (or fingers), quite literally, and at the same time they're anchors for the people around them, on an intensely personal level. I think that's why I left Gandalf out of it - the Grey Wanderer doesn't quite fill in the second role, does he?

Thank you so much! Glad you liked it. Cheerio, Nol.

*eeep*

I do not deserve this.

Really, Nol, I dont. Much too good for me.

If I wasnt in such a Godfather-ish mood, in which I plan to skeptically analyse exactly *what* changes come into my life as of today, I'd have cried my eyes out.

CelebornCelebornCeleborn....What a scene. What a glorious, glorious, glorious scene. Everything, everything about it was *perfect*.

What hit me about this?? It was so *you*. From the twins' lovely touch, to Arwen and Aragorn's desperation, I felt it all. Right in the heart.

ff.net is eating reviews, so I'll review there later today. Its 1 am, and god forbid, I must try and sleep.

Thank you. I dont know what else to say.

Author Reply: Well, if it contributed even a little to your having the bestest birthday ever, then my work is done. :)

So glad you liked it. It was the whole point of it, really. And hurrah for Messrs. Corleone! No one's supposed to cry on their birthday, even at angsty birthday ficcies.

Have a great time, and a great year. Am so glad you liked it.
