Heir To Buckland  by Anso the Hobbit 3 Review(s)
LindeleaReviewed Chapter: 3 on 8/18/2004
Whew! You had me worried (though of course I knew it had to come out right)

I particularly liked this:
Those lads would get into more mischief than Saradoc thought was possible for only two or three (if little Pippin joined them) lads to get into. But, who was he to judge, he had been the terror of the Hall himself once, and the apple had not fallen far from the tree it seemed.

I just checked and was shocked to see that I didn't review this over at the Talechallenge site. I'm so sorry.

I love the blend of responsible 'heir to Buckland' and twelve-year-old child in this story. Merry is so determined to help and be responsible, but he forgets that he is still a child and just can't physically do everything he would like to be able to do.

I also really enjoyed everyone's responses to his illness. Simply because he's such a sturdy, healthy child, they don't know how to react when he gets truly ill and so they all fall apart and immediately start thinking about him dying and such. Good thing he was too out of it to know what people were saying most of the time, he would have been scared out of his wits :)

Author Reply: Thank you for such a nice review! This is the first story I ever wrote, and Marigold guided me carefully through it. I`m glad you liked how it came out!

And yes, I believe the Brandybucks were quite shocked to see Merry so ill.

Thank you for reading!

I'm glad to see Merry is better--and that his leadership abilities are already showing at the tender age of twelve. He may be stubborn, but that's what sees him through a lot of things in the War of the Ring. I love my Pippin, but Merry is right behind him.
