All for Her   by SoundofHorns 2 Review(s)

Very nice revision. I'm glad that whole Imrahil plotline is gone. I loved the introduction of Lothiriel, and Eomer is, as expected, completely clueless and exactly as boorish as I expected!

I was a little surprised at your Lothiriel though. I always thought she'd be a pretty sensible and tough sort, growing up in a house full of men...the sort of woman who'd impress Eomer. Still, the exchange between Eomer and Lothiriel was a lot of fun to read. It's going to be fun when they meet up again and he realizes who she is!

Author Reply: Frankly, Lothiriel is tough and all that. She was trying to impress him, hee, something Eomer wouldn't have guessed if she'd come right out and said it. She was nervous and extending herself when all she really had to do was calm down.

She'll come again in another chapter, but i'm not sure for how long. Obviously he will have no idea of who she is later, so he can't interact with her too much. Even Eomer's not that slow! :)

A long and interesting, if slightly disjointed chapter.

Very typical-Faramir that he should notice the ragged, thin condition of the stableboy and want to do something to help - I hope this won't be forgotten.

Loved Aragorn's flight from the Council and drafting Faramir to 'save' him from red tape by dealing with the Councillors. The proper management of Councillors is something Aragorn will have to learn; by law I don't think he needs their approval, but he's obviously still adjusting to the Kingship. I don't understand how his Seal vanished - surely Faramir would have found it before the coronation and Aragorn would have known to keep it safe...And it's very life-like that the same Councilmen who followed Denethor's lead in despising Faramir now seek to curry favor with him even more than the new King.

And Enter Lothiriel! Interesting that she's got dark brown hair and eyes. Genetically she's Numenorean/Elvish; and, according to (I think) UNFINISHED TALES, will give Eomer a son who strongly resembles black-haired grey-eyed Imrahil. I'd always envisioned her as physically, a smaller and prettier female version of Faramir...I wonder how a pampered little lady like her will adjust to life in Rohan...Though I imagine the Rohirrim will enjoy her plays if she can adjust them for a somewhat different audience.

Author Reply: No, it won't be forgotten...this time around. ;)

Well, that's simply how my Lothiriel was visualized and very strongly so that I couldn't change her. I want her to have some mental abilities, per the elven blood. She's not telepathic like Faramir, but she is an empath and even though she is angry at Eomer, and rightfully so, she does also pity Eomer because her label of "mouse" is correct at the moment. She was trying to impress him with all that nonsense and mystery, notice she mentioned her cousin twice? It was an attempt to link herself to Faramir, an important and impressive figure and one she falsely assumed Eomer liked. When Lothiriel looks back to Eowyn in the Houses she realizes Eowyn is Eomer's sister.

I loved having her write plays--it's both very cultured and very bold of her to rewrite history or write her own stories. I want her to be very outgoing, willing to try new things. She's well-educated like to Faramir, but not as able to use this education like he has in daily life, guessing with hobbits he finds, etc.

I think she'll adjust to life in Rohan nicely, especially with Eomer wrapped around her thumb. I'm sure Eowyn will go back with her for a bit to get her settled.
