The Gift  by Rowan 3 Review(s)
esamenReviewed Chapter: 1 on 9/9/2004
Oh, another lovely gift! This is beautiful. Thanks for keeping it clean enough for the rating . . . I don't read sexually specific work.

You really, really do write beautifully. I like the way your stories have a natural shape and a terrific ending. Are you still writing fan fic? And do you post anywhere else besides SoA?

Thanks for sharing this vision,

Esamen

Author Reply: I am so sorry that this reply is so belated, but it's been a busy month for me, and I confess I don't check my "Rowan" address as often as maybe I should.

I do still write fic (and recently added a fourth chapter to an ongoing series, For Eyes to See That Can), but I'm not really what you'd call prolific. I am not one of those writers for whom inspiration comes easily. I get an idea, work on it some, then either it takes off and "writes itself", or it doesn't and languishes on my HD until I use it in something else (if it's lucky). I do have some ideas for future chapters of FETSTC, and other stories as well, but I have no clue when I'll be able to work on them.

A Star Shines and The Gift (as Remembrance) were posted previously on Nindaiwe, which has since gone poof, unfortunately (unless it's been revived and no one's told me). Other than that, so far, SoA is the only place you will see stories by Rowan, unless I get an itch to post on WOTM. (Fanfiction.net and my computer don't get along, so that's out.)

Thank you so much for your kind words. They do make me want to write some more. All I can say is keep watching SoA.

I'm so glad you posted this here, Rowan. What a creative, thoughtful story.

"Certainly he would have been proud to have Frodo as his son. Who wouldn't? The lad was handsome, bright, and well-behaved (for the most part), with a gentle spirit and a perceptive heart. It simply wouldn't be fair to rob him of what equilibrium he had regained since the tragedy that had left him an orphan. Frodo had lost too much too early, but at least he still had his sense of who he was. The last thing he needed was to have that taken away from him too."

You write so beautifully. A lovely piece.

Author Reply: Thank you kindly. I was a bit hesitant about posting it since at Barrow-downs I got a reviewer complaining that Bilbo was out of character (the very idea of an honorable hobbit sleeping with his married first cousin!). But that's why I labeled it a what-if, after all. Anyway, you have now reviewed both my stories, for which I'm grateful, and now I'm off to your author page to see if I can't return the favor.

'What if's' are wonderful for letting your imagination loose!
I really enjoyed your story...Frodo has the best of both worlds-memories of his family and a loving father-figure.

Author Reply: Thanks! For some reason the Frodo-Bilbo relationship has been the one I've most wanted to write about since I came back to LOTR fandom (around the time the first movie came out). I'm glad people seem to like the results.
