Screaming and Singing  by Chigger 8 Review(s)
Lotrgirl1415Reviewed Chapter: 1 on 1/22/2006
Yet another fanfiction making me wish Frodo had been a father.
I always wished, in the books, Frodo had a family(wife and kids) and this just makes me wish it more.lol
I loved this lil story!

Oh, this is lovely!! I came here looking for you as the story I was looking over for you is all done, but my e-mail back to you keeps bouncing back to me, so I need you to drop me a line.

What a great story to find though!

Author Reply: Thank you!

Aren't older sisters wonderful? Not only was she snooping through my review, but she acted as part-time secretary while *I* was stuck downstairs. ;)
(Of course, I must admit that in this household, reviews are open for all the read, should they be interested. I'm always snooping into hers. :) )

This is very sweet so far. the only problem I spotted was the elfstone. That was a green stone that Aragorn wore. Frodo was griven a white star like gem that Arwen wore and gave to him in the beginning of Many Partings.

Author Reply: OK, first of all let me apologize for not answering this sooner, but frankly I was going to wait until after I had fixed the story, but I am just dreading the fight I'm going to have with Javascript to fix it. All those italics! spaces! and other such things! It was quite a pain just to get it up the first time. :)

But thank you for the correction. I knew when Arwen had given the gem to Frodo; and a little nagging voice in the back of my mind kept telling me that the Elfstone was green, but of course I didn't listen to it. :) I WILL fix this, though. Thank you again.

Author Reply:
I believe it's all fixed now. And through the grace of God, Javascript didn't act up. :) Thanks again!

I love this! Frodo and Elanor are perfect. You have done a wonderful hobbit story, Chigger. Seems Merry and Pippin turn out to be more trouble that the baby as usual. LOL

Loved this part:

With utmost care, he gently pried her chubby fingers apart, slipping the white stone from within them before laying her hand gently beside her.

No, wait, I loved all of it.

Author Reply: I thought you might enjoy and understand this one more than my other ones. :) I'm very fond of Merry and Pippin, but everyone knows that they can be rather bumbling at times. :D

Writing that part wasn't too hard. I've had to put a sleeping baby in bed several times. My little brother learned to play possum. :) You put him in bed, tiptoe across the room, turn around, and he's looking over the bumper-pads at you, a huge grin on his face. AGH! :P

Ah, but I love little kids. I'm glad you approve of my hobbits. :)

Ah, Frodo singing to a babe, what a sweet image. Will we see more of this? I hope so.

Author Reply: We will have to see. I rarely am able to stop after just one chapter, so this one may grow. But Frodo didn't stay very long after Elanor was born. Although I love seeing them together. :)

*Sigh*

Now look what you did! Just when I thought I could get on with my other five or six plot bunnies you get this one all stirred up again! :) I can't promise anything, but this one *might* grow at a later date.

Thanks for the review!

Ah, Merry and Pippin. Always around whether you need them or not. :)

Elenor kind of reminded me of my brother's daughter, Katelyn. Cute when she's calm, and a terror when she's screaming. :)

Author Reply: Yes, they're like that, aren't they? :D I was going to let Frodo get away with it, but suddenly, there they were. You remember that conversation we had about characters not doing what you want them to . . .? :)

The story was actually going to be centered around toddler Elanor and Frodo, but he left when she was only six months old; so this would be right around four or five months after she was born.
I meant to go back in our photo album and see what my little brother was like at that time, but I forgot. ~_~ So I hope she came off right. (The fact that she reminded you of your neice makes me think that I wasn't too far wrong. :) ) Screaming kids aren't much fun. ;D

What a lovely story! And you have such a wonderful way with words...

"his mind following the words over the salt-crested waves."

"The pure and simple love emanating from the small mite of life did more good for Frodo’s wounded spirit than anything. "You’re my lass, aren’t you, Ellie?" he said, gently kissing the hand that hit him in the face as she gurgled and grunted."

Sigh.

Author Reply: Thank you! I tried hard to capture the correct mood for Frodo. I have a habit of making him too happy. But I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)

I've also always wanted Frodo to be happy and have a family, but since Tolkien wasn't that nice to him, I decided that Elanor is as close as he ever got. :)
