| I just read The Apprentice and The Frequent Visitor. Both stories are so heartwarming, so beautifully written, and I had tears in my eyes. Thank you so very much for writing and sharing these. | |

| The beginning of a beautiful friendship. Now we can see why they need each other so much. Grief is much easier to bear when shared. This is such a sweet story. I would like to see you continue this if for no other reason than to deal with with the Gaffer's anger at and neglect of Sam. Maybe Frodo's righteous anger will make him realize what he's doing? Please?? Author Reply: Thank-you Breon. I don't have a 'sequel' to this story planned. I've got a number of other fanfics I've written over the last two years that I'm tidying up and will post in chronological order (they are all internally consistent with each other - or nearly so, though they are all 'stand alone' stories that were not written in chronological order). So you will see more of the Gaffer (since all my stories are about Sam). He is particularly hard on Sam in 'The Frequent Visitor' because he was struggling with his grief, too, and seeing Sam grieve made it worse. | |

| What a lovely, insightful story! You fill in so many "gaps", such as Bilbo's willingness to have a tweenager come live with him, Frodo rediscovering himself as a 'Baggins', and how Frodo and Sam bonded so strongly, so early. Wonderful. "Well, Sam my lad," cried Bilbo when the child was done, "what news of my garden?" With that Sam was off. I do love your stories! Author Reply: Thanks so much, Shirebound! I always felt that Sam's mother must have died when he was quite young, because he never remembers her or talks about her. So that seemed to present the perfect scenario for an almost instant connection between these two wonderful hobbits. | |
