Wow! I couldn't stop reading. Every time I saw a new chapter posted, I had to go right to it. And yes, I got misty-eyed at more than one point.

I'm impressed by the ammount of research went into this. Thanks for explaining quartering, that was the one thing I couldn't figure out.

I also found it interesting that you portray Pippin's parents as such loving people. In most fan fiction I've read, they are not painted in such a favorable light. Nice to see a different view.

Wonderful stuff.

Thanks.

Connie.

Author Reply: Thank you, Connie, for taking the time to read and respond to the story. I can't explain it, but I only went to a couple websites and found I couldn't get the chilling journal entries out of my head. In a matter of hours the story was laid out, and completed in just a couple days. (I don't normally write a story that fast) Thanks again.

I just wanted to say how much I thourghly enjoyed this story. You delved into the heart of things, making the experience with MErry strange yet believable.

How sad that children actually did live like that! My grandmother was recently telling me of all the chimney sweeps...most of them never lived to adulthood.

It's so sad, and I wonder--now what? I wish I could go back and help them, somehow...but I suppose since that isn't possible, we should fight for the things that are wrong today.

Anyway, I loved your thought-provoking story. Cheers!

Author Reply: Thank you, Miriel, for taking the time to read the story! I'm glad you saw through to the cruxt of the message; child labor. It makes the writing all the more worthwhile if just one person sees the it.

Take care,
Pippinfan
