A Question of Duty  by daw the minstrel 2 Review(s)

He is still ignorant of the fact that he is not the only "unexpected" guest present in Elrond's dwelling, and that he has far more of a part to play than he realizes.

Author Reply: It seems to me that most of the Fellowship walked into Imladris totally unaware that they were walking into their destiny. Elrond didn't "call" that council, after all. The Valar sent them all.

Oh, daw, this is wonderful!

I have never read Elf fics before today, and I went and scanned through a couple to see what is going on in that realm. I wasn't going to slow down and do close reading, but this is wonderful! I am going to read and enjoy every word. I'm only on the first chapter, but this looks like a very similar approach to the one I used for Boromir. I love it.

I am learning a lot by reading what you write. I love your pacing and the way you blend description with dialogue. Very good job. This is going to be fun! Thanks so much for all your work in sharing your vision with us. On to the next chapter . . . .

Author Reply: When I read your Boromir story, I was struck by how you were dealing with the same time period from the point of view of another Fellowship member. One of the things your story made me realize is how tragic Boromir is. He's a basically noble person who falls and even knows he's falling.
