OOOOOOOOOOOOOO rivetting work, absolutely rivetting! Poor Elladan, always the twin on the short end of the stick (which is quite the way I like it!). Ahhh the angst... the perfect Christmas prezzie!

Author Reply: As you know, I agree with you on the angst! There's more in the next chapter, too. (And the one after that, which I've nearly finished!)

Sea-sick elves, now that's an idea I had never considered before. And an even worse illness --- sea-sickness by proxy. The poor twins!

But what's happened to the King and his son????
Very worried about them. :-(

Author Reply: I like to think that the twins are close enough to share each other's feelings and emotions - but it's not always a very pleasant experience. And poor Legolas and Thranduil - they're not having much fun, either.

What a terrific start! Your description of all the goods available surprised me. Who knew that they traded so widely? Rohan, yet! Wow!

The twins' excitement was a joy... too bad about the seasickness... boy, can that RUIN your day!

The cliffie is really evil...

- Barbara

Author Reply: Cliffie? Evil? Me? Surely not! I'm so glad you're enjoying the story. I think Laketown could have been a busy trading place, so tried to think of all the things they would have. I sympathise with Elladan - I get sea-sick, too.

Ack! Nasty evil cliffie! Great story though, can't wait to see what happens to Legolas and Thranduil!

Author Reply: I like evil cliffies, it keeps people reading! At least you have some idea now of what's happened to them!

Oh dear. Troubles a brewing. Great chapter, I can't wait to read more!

Author Reply: This is rather belated, but thanks for the review! I hope you like the rest so far.

Bad Jay! A cliffhangar at christmas? I can see that Father Christmas knows of one naughty author who can expect to find coal in her stocking.

I like the descriptions of Esgaroth and the shopping available. It is too easy to forget that of all the elven realms, Thranduil's likely had the most contact with men and dwarves! And poor Elladan....I had to read through the sea sickness part quickly as I am down with the flu...and that hit a bit too close to home :/

Author Reply: But what if I post the next chapter before Christmas? Will I get presents then? Like a new chapter of History Lessons? (I want to see if Elrohir's all right!)

I'm sorry you're not feeling well - the twins send hugs and kisses your way. Hope you feel better soon. The ending of Mid Winter Gifts won't be too long in coming, and will be warm and fuzzy. Perhaps it will help!

Oh, Jay, a cliffhanger! This is a great beginning. I love the idea of all of them in Esgaroth together. And I liked the little details about the night market and the choices of gifts that Legolas makes. It was fortunate Elladan was sick really, because they turned back a little earlier.

Author Reply: I'm glad you liked the details of the market - I tried to make it sound 'Christmassy'. And poor Elladan - I didn't make him suffer for nothing, it was to give them an excuse to turn back before the storm hit.

What a neat beginning, Jay!! Poor Elrohir.... I can sympathize, tho. I love sailing, but if it gets rough I get sick as a DOG.... :-)

but OMG, it's a cliffie!!!! Thranduil and Legolas and the deputy are not back.... eeep!

Can't wait to see where you go with this!!

Cheers,
Jasta

Author Reply: Tut, tut, Jasta! Can't you tell the twins apart? It was Elladan who got sea-sick!
