I Have Made My Choice  by Morwen Tindomerel 7 Review(s)

I've enjoyed this story and The Siege of Minas Tirith very much and I'm looking forward to your sequels. I especially like the way you fill in all the political, social and familal details that Tolkein (for very good reasons) did not provide. Thanks again.

Just a drive-by note to say that I'm still enjoying Arwen's pov and your story v. much (also the parallel Siege of Minas Tirith). I feel relieved at clean! and dressed up!Aragorn and Arwen.

I like your mix of book and movie verse. As usual I have a bit of trouble following the OCs, partly because the Numenorean genealogies are too much for my brain. I'm so thankful for the greater Dunedain presence, but I find it hard to keep track of so many characters. Doubtless Arwen would have been challenged by the many new faces and names as well, despite her experience and training.

Oddly enough, I feel like pleading for more Aragorn/Arwen interaction. I just reread all the chapters, and I really cherish their scenes together (and the "sweetheart" in the latest chapter), but the press of events doesn't give them much time alone, does it? Ah, well, let's look fwd to after the war, shall we?

I haven't forgot about your Thorongil fic and hope that all of this activity in Gondor will wake your muse for more writing on that story!

Morwen,

Just a drive-by note to say that I do adore this fic!

In this chapter I especially liked

the comments on Arwen having to nag Estel (he really does need her to take care of him, esp. after Halbarad's death, and someone has to look after the man, as opposed to king)

the clothes and the colors!

what Aragorn saw in the palantir (goes to the heart of the matter)

I'll be looking fwd to more!

I love the hints of the Arwen-Éowyn tension you've drawn - I've never been able to believe that Arwen, if she is Elven wise and perfect, as so many people write her, would harbour animosity towards Éowyn. You've done the right thing in making her main reaction pity. Well done.

Author Reply: Jealousy is rooted in insecurity, Arwen knows Aragorn is all hers and has been from the moment he first laid eyes on her at age twenty so it seemed to me that she couldn't feel threatened by Eowyn's infatuation - only grieved and concerned for the girl. I'm glad you agree.

Mind you an Eowyn/Arwen catfight would have been something to see! ;-D

Morwen,

Just a quick squee:

the shirt!! yes, the shirt that she hadn't made for him! (hers would fit better, and last longer, oh yes). Being Aragorn's seamstress is no easy task! It's not like she was doing needlepoint or something; he must have gone through clothes very quickly. No doubt she wove protection and love as well as strong, tiny stitches and subtle fine decoration and extra layers on his sword arm sleeves . . .

And I love her snarking at him for making her wait.

And a little hint of Eowyn!

Finally, Corsairs, yay!
