Legolas showed his quality! Especially at the end when he gives his medal, of which he thinks he did not earn to the little lass. I am just wondering what Elladan & Elrohir will learn from it.

And I knew Haldir would judge right!

Author Reply: I don't think Elladan and Elrohir are quite so competitive (only against each other) so they wouldn't be so devastated at the interruption of the contest.

I think Erestor needs to get over himself though - he didn't need to mention disqualification, did he?

Author Reply: I remember that discussion thread, but never considered my own story at the time! I hope the description helped. Have you posted your fic on the MC site? Thanks for the review - I will post more, but at the moment I'm busy with other stories.

Ah, so *that's* why he was so ashamed. Thranduil was right. The thought was a natural and momentary response to the enormous pressure. Had Legolas continued to think along those lines, he would indeed have cause for shame. But to think such a thing for a moment but then dismiss it ... well, it's something we all need to learn about as we grow up. :)

Good for Haldir for "hearing" Legolas ask for permission to leave the field. And kudos to Finglas for correcting himself. It was good to see that Legolas's run in with him earlier didn't have severe consequences.

My favorite moment --- the little elleth with the bouquet of flowers, mostly made up of weeds, for Legolas. I can picture the scene clearly, and it's so cute to see!

Author Reply: Legolas is very competitive, and for a moment, that seemed more important. He was lucky that the judges took pity, but Finglas isn't really that bad. His son's a different matter - we'll meet him soon! I think that probably elves wouldn't consider any flowers weeds, and would value them all. But I'm glad you liked that final scene!

EEK! I can see why Legolas would have left the field, but alas it was nice to see Haldir and the like sticking up for him. Disqualification is a ugly but necessary thing in sport, disobey the rules and you're out, no matter how innocent or goodnatured the act.
Poor Legolas!

Author Reply: Poor Erestor really didn't *want* to have to disqualify Legolas. Haldir and Finglas came to his rescue - sometimes rules need to be bent a little.

I knew it!! He is SUCH a Boy Scout! (Of course, I love Boy Scouts, :) especially of the Elven variety!) He definitely over-reacted, didn't he? Great chapter, especially the part with Legolas and Thranduil, and the little elleth's gift of flowers, mostly weeds (awwwwww), and I love the way Finglas changed his mind at the end when he saw Legolas give his medal to the little girl. Not a bad guy after all! Can not wait for the next addition (and I'm glad I didn't know earlier this was at ff.net, cos I can't get that site on this #!*@#* computer! *pout*)

Author Reply: Poor Legolas got himself a bit mixed up there - he's only young, after all! Finglas surprised me by turning out reasonable after all - but I can't say the same for his son, who we will meet next chapter. Weeds are pretty - have you ever *looked* at a dandelion?

Isn't loyalty a wonderful thing - great chapter, nice interactions, but he's still an unsufferable prig at this age!
Love him and your writing - as ever
Rose

Author Reply: You know, I never thought of Legolas as a prig - but you know, you could be right. Let's see what you think after the next chapter (but it will be a while, I've only just started writing it).
