Perfect! A fine story about two cousins as close as brothers and who love their horses and land.

Hi again, much, much better now and more believable. This is a superb story. Keep going, I hope you write more. It is true there are not many Eomer or Theodred stories, it is down to all of us faithful to write them!!! Eokat.

I loved this story. You have written well about the Rohirrim and evoked their characters and natures well . I have to admit I do not like Eomer being older than Theodred, it quite spoiled it in TTT when I first saw it. In the appendices at the end of ROTK it states that Theodred was 24 when Eomer was orphaned at the age of 11. Author Reply: I'm glad you liked the story. Unfortunately, I'm one of those guilty people who hasn't yet read all of the Appendices, just the bits that caught my eye. I shall endeavour to make myself more well-versed in future.

The Appendix in LOTR also implies that Theodred is thirteen years older that Eomer. Theodred was 24 when Eomer's mother died 'soon after' her husband died in 3002. Asumming Theodwyn died within a year of Eomund, my guess is sooner than later, Theodred was probably born in 2978 the same year as Boromir (or possibly in 2977?) That makes Theodred roughly the same age as Boromir. Author Reply: Ah right. Thanks for the info! I've edited accordingly.

Unfinished Tales says that Theodred is thirteen years older than Eomer, so he'd have been around forty when he died. He doesn't look it in the movie, does he? Author Reply: No he doesn't. Thanks for the info! I've edited accordingly.

I loved this story! All too few fics (that I have read anyway) deal with the brotherhood relationship between Eomer and Theodred. They grew up together in the same house and under the leadership of the same man, therefore they should be rather close. What is more, I loved seeing the love of horses that these two share with all Rohirrim and their horror of mass slaughter and empty stables stained with the blood of those noble creatures. Very nice! At the beginning of your story you asked for constructive critisism. I know that, as an author, I hate it when my readers leave mistakes they notice unmentioned for me to find some time later, and I would rather they point out ways in which my story is terrible rather than leave me in the dark. Therefore I will try my best (in as nice a manner as possible) to bring to light anything I believe to be a mistake. Mind you, I may be wrong a few times, but please bear with me. :) The more I look at this, the more sense it makes, but I'm going to point it out anyway. Rohirrim is the Elvish plural of Rohir, horse-lord, and is therefore a plural noun (horse-lords) and not an adjective. So, unless you were speaking in the plural, your title and closing line should be "To Be Rohirric" which would be an adjective. Sorry if you knew all this already and I made a big deal over nothing. :) Also, I have never heard of a horse's "fetters". Which part of the horse were you thinking of? Fetters are things you lock criminals in. Were you perhaps meaning forelock or fetlock? I could be wrong on this one also, or maybe it's something Tolkien left unsaid, but I was under the impression that Theodred was older than Eomer by several years. Am I wrong? I do hope this helps in some small way. :) But again, I really enjoyed the story and found nothing wrong with your saddling details. :) Thank you for a good read. Author Reply: Firstly, thank you so much for your kind review! It's the longest I've ever had in the last four years! I've never read a fic with Théodred in it at all, but that might be because I haven't been looking. Come to think of it, I haven't seen much of Éomer either. How strange? I have beared with you (not entirely sure that's a word, but oh well). Again, many thanks for being constructive in your critique. Your points do make a lot of sense (notice the change from M to C), and I did mean fetlocks. In my defence, it has been many years since I last picked the hoof of a horse. As for Théodred being younger or older Éomer, I have no idea. I looked it up at Encyclopedia of Arda, and found nothing to confirm it either way, and another reader has said she feels him to be younger than Éomer. If it truly is an error, well, we'll keep it secret, keep it safe. Slap my wrists and let's say no more about it. Thank you again!
