| Alas, poor Elladan! And poor Elrohir, watching his twin suffer. As well as Elrond... as a parent, I have often wished I could take my children's pain into myself in order to relieve them of it. (Bad enough that Elladan seems to have had a close brush with death...) What a terrible burden Elrond has borne over the past 300 years, first to lose his wife (though he will see her again when he sails), and then fearing to lose his sons to bitterness and the thirst for vengeance! Bless Elrohir for his swift and instinctive response to his father's pain. The reconciliation of the father and his sons is beautifully told. | |
