| The descriptions are beautiful, and I love the awe and respect that the Elves hold towards the Ring-bearers. It feels like a rare privilege to be allowed to witness Frodo and Sam's reunion and Sam's reaction to seeing Frodo again at last. [T]hey saw him smile as he shook his head at her offer, his eyes shimmering with unshed tears as they fixed upon the shining form of Frodo Baggins. “I don’t need the star-glass for to see him true,” they heard him say as he moved forward to be reunited with the brother of his heart. The two Lights of Being pulsed as one, Sun- and Starlight joined together as Iorhael and Panthael embraced one another after nearly half a yen’s separation. What a joyous picture! Author Reply: Thank you so. I've been rereading Reunion tonight and noting some discrepancies between the two tellings, but find myself willing to let them stand as irrelevant. They complement each other, after all, and they lead to the same end with the two Lights blending. It is Livwen's quiet pain that is the final image that I found caught me here, although in the former tale it is shown healing as she comes to appreciate Sam's presence as aiding Frodo to prepare for their final departure from this life. I so appreciated our chance to visit with you and the feast of tuna melts. Three of my cats and small Whiskers are now unable to produce further kittens, and it appears Euphrates will join her older brother Mouse in the abode of one of my tenants soon. That leaves only Tigris and little brother Halo to find homes for. Love to Poppy and the daughters of your house and the cats, feral and domestic. | |
